Does the cobalt (LSJ) have an engine Immobiliser?
Long story short, I'm from England, and I'm considering importing an LSJ engine to put into my Vauxhall VX220 (aka Opel Speedster), which currently has a 2.2 ecotec (z22se) which is pretty much the same as an L61.
I would go with the original LSJ ECM, as you guys seem to use the HP tuners software, which seems very good and there's a lot of info/support for it.
What is troubling me, is I can't find any reference to an engine immobiliser on the cobalt/lsj... is there one? All cars since 1997 in the UK have legally had to have these (transponder in the key which tries to match the code in the ECU, otherwise the engine won't start).
If the LSJ doesn't have one then it would make it a lot easier for me I think.
Many thanks
Richard

What are my options for bypassing/embracing the passkey? Could the ecu be preprogrammed to like the code from my existing key? or will I need the key from the donor car? Or can the system be disabled with hptuners or anything else?
lmao ive maid like 2 threads about similar stuff and no1 seems to answer..either no1 knows.. which i find hard to believe …or every1 hates me ..lol done everything i could to research this even tried called local dealership and they wont tell me jack about the immobilizer… idk how i set it off or if theres a short setting it off but car wont even start and im loosing my mind ..
