done with hids... holy crap

Ok so 6 months after having them my headaches began. Ballast went out.... Replaced headlight now I believe ballast. Everytime lights turned on made loud buzzing sound.

I'm shouting in my head ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!

I think I'll resort to stockers. I loved the HID look, but holy hell nothing like flipping brights on to kick one side on. Odd to only passenger side had been giving me hell... Now I'll walk away in shame

I've had Morimoto go out on me a couple times too when I had retrofits. Nothing will ever beat OEM. So happy my STi has OEM HIDs.

True ******* that! Havig hids and retros is awesome but holy **** ive had nothing but issues sice day one running hids. Doesnt matter the brand; i think ive been through a dozen ballasts, relay harnesses, differejt configuartions, bulbs going out, not knowing WTF my problem is at any given time. Man it would be great if i could have properly working headlights just once.

Then I guess the best bet is to look for the STi OEM HIDS in a junkyard and shove it in our Cobalts

Sounds like these kits are more trouble than they are worth.

The moral of the story was. STi > cobalt

No but retrofits are a huge pain in the ass. Awesome while they work. But too much trouble. I ended up just putting my stock headlights back in cause I was tired of dealing with them.

had retros from buyhids for almost 3 years, pretty much makes the car in my opinion. have halos, switchbacks, hid fogs and hi/lows. all the good stuff and pretty much never a problem. just gotta take your time and make sure every connection is solid, ballasts are mounted good, everythings covered up, and grounding is solid. then you should be good to go! its totally worth the money and install and light output on a quality kit is so sooo much better than oem.

I have HIDs in fogs and in my stock headlights and havent had any major issues. sometimes my passenger headlight likes to flicker cause i have super cheap chinese ballasts but ive had the car over a year with them and have had no other issues.

before you yell at HIDs in stock housing the car came that way and the previous owner expoxyd the headlights to they wont leak.

I have DDM RAPTOR kits that are closing in on 3 years old with 4th gen projectors. Had to have 1 ballast replaces. But I also bought them during a massive back order they were on. Other than that no issue at all. Not bad for cheapies. I do have the ballasts secured in dry places though.
