OK, like PpAzZ1101 said, you cannot really "drift" a FWD car. The best you can hope for is a powerslide and even then you can go one way or the other, you can't drift one way then switch and drift the other way without completely losing control of the car.

Second thing...powersliding it dependent mostly on a good e-brake. Fine for 2.2 models, good f'in luck on the 4-wheel disc brake SS and SS/SC.

I bet all the people who already own RWD cars like Supras and 240s are just salivating waiting for this movie to come out. All the ricer dipshits are going to total a WHOLE lot of perfectly good RWD cars, making them rarer and pushing the value up.

I actually think it's the people that don't see it as just a movie are the ones that have given the movies a bad name. The high school punks and ricer losers that can't tell the difference between movie and real life. The ones that are going to go out after the movie thinking they're hot **** and can drift and go out and cause a bunch of accidents. It's happened after all the other movies.

I'm actually just going to laugh my ass off at people like that. Should be more entertaining than the movie itself.

i wonder if we as a community can stop the movie from becoming popular. If we tell one friend or more not to see it maybe it will catch on to others then the movie wont do very well. If it doesnt do well then maybe not many will try drifting in populated areas

LOL so I'm fake because I find the movies to be funny? They're funny because they're so over-the-top fake. And honestly, it's not so much the movies that are funny but it's about half the crowd in the movie theatre that are acting like they're viewing a documentary. The best part is the parking lot. You can fairly accurately tell which people belong to which cars just by looking at the car and then listening to the people talk.

I'm interested in seeing the movie because of the cars and it should be overall entertaining. F&F has a bad rep because of some acting scenes and taking things a little to over the top. But you would be lying to say some parts of those movies were not interesting. And you know you like hearing the sound from some of the cars.

Agreed.

Watch the first F/F movie and take note of the racing scene where 'Brian' and 'Dom' race at the beginning of the movie. You know... the one where he fries his piston rings and part of his floor falls out. The 1/4 mile race takes like 30 seconds.... that's kinda funny considering he tells him that he owes a 10 second car.

I knew this question would come up after awhile. This is why kids should not watch the Fast and The Furious movies. BEcause once these 16 yr olds watch Fast and the Furious 3 they'll be trying to drift fwd cars on highways and crap...damn hollywood

honestly though it isn't hollywood that does this. Its the kids that simply have no self control that do stuff like this. It would be the same argument about video games making kids into killers. It's just not true. However it only takes one kid to influence a friend of a friend thats a friend of another friend who rides in a car of that friend which is the friend of the original friend, to try something stupid.

The only difference I see is that in video games, you still get some concept of consequences. People/things die/get/hurt/etc. Granted it's not on the same level as real-world violence but it's there...poor decisions have consequences.

With the FnF movies, no one sees the consequences of bad judgement. You go out in a fast car and race and that's that. Nothing bad ever happens. If someone does crash a car they get out and walk away, no harm done. So all that the kids see is cars going fast and it looks cool. And oh by the way, it's OK because no one ever gets hurt.

not true. in part 2 the dude in the stang was smashed to death by the back end of a truck and the guy in the vette smashed into his remains. The guy from part one got shot trying to steal parts from the trucker. the trucker shot him with a shotgun and that one kid died from that drive by from the dudes on the bikes

bluechevyss05 I wasn't starting anything with you...

Whether or not I purchase a Cobalt is probably going to be the biggest decision in my life so far. I'm very interested in drifting, and it has nothing to do with the Fast and the Furious. You didn't even bother to read my original post and automatically assumed that just because I mentioned drifting that I'm some kind of F&F Fanboi.

These are very pertinent questions and are very important factors in my ultimate decision as to whether or not I decide to purchase my Cobalt.

Maybe you're too stubborn to actually read the post because you don't know anything about drifting?

-Aleckor

P.S. Can a FWD car drift more than one corner in the rain/snow?

Your the type of person everybody here is talking about......taking the movie seriously. You really want an action scene over in 10 seconds? Not entertaining at all if you ask me. I like the F&F franchaise only because it is entertaining and nothing more....plots sucks, some of the characters suck.....but they sure are entertaining as hell.

No. As stated before, it really can't drift at all. It can powerslide, that's it. The problem with FWD is that wherever it goes it has to drag the back wheels behind the front. In dry conditions in means it can only go one way. In poor conditions (rain/snow) it means that you can swing one end around further but it becomes harder to correct the car back to straight, let alone get it to go in the other direction. Most times when I've seen FWD cars "drift" in snow, whether it be intentional or unintentional, it's one direction only. If by chance it does end up in the other direction it's because the driver lost control of the car, not because they meant to get it turned around....and it usually ends badly for the car and anything nearby.

I didn't see any fast and the furious threads. I still don't see them, although I'm not actively looking for them.

Also, you shouldn't be dissing on the Cavalier. Cars like the Cavalier paved the way for the Cobalt. GM and Chevy knew exactly what NOT to do with the Cobalt by looking at the Cavalier. (Most notably the interior!)
