oh my gosh guys you are not going to get a cobalt to sound like an srt-4 unless you turbo it and add .4L to the displacement. a supercharged 4 cylinder will NEVER sound like a turbo 4 cylinder.

whoever says their car "crackles" like an srt-4 is simply saying it backfires during deceleration. typically the less restriction you have, the more noise you have, thus why he can hear it now. mine crackles too, but the actual exhuast noise sounds nothing like a skittle. there is no reason why you need "back pressure" on a supercharged car, granted bigger is not always better. it is all about picking the right size piping for your HP range. you need to have the right exhaust flow for your application.

Werd. You don't need to add back pressure for a supercharged car or any car for that matter (Although some will exist naturally and can be measured). Back pressure is a term which refers to the pressure exerted by a moving gas or fluid on a restriction in an exhaust system; you can add VELOCITY without adding back pressure. You need an exhaust system that will create the maximum amount of exhaust gas velocity yet still allow enough flow to reach optimum power. Velocity is achieved by sizing your exhaust correctly, not too big, not too small. You also add velocity in many other ways such as 4-2-1 headers, honed exhaust manifold, proper header primary size into proper downpipe size, header length, full exhaust length and the list goes on. Coating your headers also increases velocity by keeping the heat in the exhaust gases therefore the exhaust expand rapidly looking for an exit; this also keeps some heat out of the engine bay. You can get really in depth with it, and I promise if you choose a smaller pipe size to create some "back pressure" you will not be doing yourself a favor.

The actual proper pipe size for the power most SS/SC are making is 2.25" to 2.5".

Couldnt you in theory make two seperate headers and make a true dual that way?

sorry, it's early, i didn't have my coffe... that post sounded like i was being a dick, and i didn't mean to be one.

but to answer your question, it wouldn't help any, and would add alot of extra weight. there also probably wouldn' be much room for the extra piping.

a dual exhaust is from seperate banks of cylinders, not one bank.

i guess you probably COULD custom fab one, but there's no reason to. it would probably be less efficient than a single header.

alrite i was able to take some quick pics, but i cant find the video so u can hear the exhaust and get a better look of it. so imma try to take one before work, but imma probably upload it after i get home which is about 1130pm or soo. I'm not running any mufflers on my car so its a bit on the loud side when the video comes thru.

this should be the video if it doesnt work ill try something else tonite. this is the best i can do for now. lata

If you're going for higher HP ranges (like...320+ i think), move up to 3"

2.5" is about the optimal size for 300~320hp (260~280whp). 2.75" is where you would want to move to for the very top end of of what SS/SC are putting down now, bigger will just cut into your low end power.
