Dyno'd my new 06 today!

Bone Stock, 177miles on it,

230HP!!!!

Frustrating though as it still gainiing significant power up to the rev-limiter. Can't wait till I get my tuning software. I see at least 40-50HP in tuning alone!

Now the modding begins! Will post pic of dyno shortly.

Good Luck and Nice Numbers!

Your engine likes to see some reving to seal in valves and such. Babying it that bad probably isnt helpful either. Redlining it on a dyno is probably worse tho.

I made sure the valves were plenty sealed after i ticked over 500. I probably got close to 4K rpm but only once.

I've had 8 new cars in the past 20 years and have broke them all in the same way! Like you want it to run, fast! All of my cars have been a little quicker than average and i can thank the old'timer that tipped me off to that method of break-in. They are built ready to go from the factory! Also, i'm a GM certified tech and EVERY car we PDI gets floored to test it

That was a 3rd gear pull, why dyno in an overdrive gear??? My Impala dyno'd the same in 2nd and 3rd so it doesn't matter on HP, torque yes

I thought the general consensus is that 4th is the 1:1, and 5th is OD?

Not bad for stock, makes my 250 to the wheels feel a little more believable. Also I noticed that our cars seem to get faster after about 500-1000 miles. Maybe its my dealer gave me 87 octane as my first tank of gas and it took my computer a while to adjust but there was a definate difference from my first couple days with it and a week or two afterwards.

4th is not 1:1 at all...its .89 and is only .07 closer to 1:1 than 3rd. the difference in gears wont make much difference.

good numbers though mang!

Please do let me know when you begin tuning, I would be very interested in this myself.

I heard something similar when breaking in a car ... but it was more like never be consistant with the top speed and let the car know that it can get up and go every so often

Nice numbers... is there a thread where anyone has dyno'd a 2006 SS 2.4L? I'm curious if we're underrated too.

Is that really right now? That seems pretty tuff to believe that you put that much down to the wheels COMPLETELY stock. Isnt 205 h.p. off the crank stock and your saying you got 230 WHP stock. That must be 270 h.p. crank(ruff guess) depending what a manual gets for drivetrain loss 18-22%?

205 Hp is the rated power GM gave the car... most people have been dynoing the car with MORE hp at the wheels than 205 hp, hence GM has underrated the car...

Can't wait to dyno mine!

Thats great if they serivously underrated them then; It will make my gf much happier since she will be getting one this coming summer once she has college finished. I figured I better check out whats going on with the aftermarket items so I dont get bombarded with questions & I want's from her right before we buy her car.
