Well according to GM, the official pronounciation of the Ecotec engine is "Echo-Tech"

The first part being "Echo" as in Toyota Echo

Personally, I just say eeeco-tec, its just easier to say and sounds better

The German "Getrag" transmission that GM uses faces the same dilemma, apparently its pronounced "Get-Rag", whereas most people (including myself) pronounce it as "Gee-Trag"

Eeeko tech sounds better than Echo Tech IMO. Mainly because I think the name Echo for a car doesn't get much gayer than that. Well except maybe for Festiva, or Corrola

I say echotec. But it's really confusing for all the e words. Is it lancer iee-volution, or e-volution?

I think ecotec comes from ecology, meaning good for environment. Because that 3.2 ecotec isn't that economical.

eeeeecotec sounds retarded.

The long eeee sound reminds me of "eeeeek" or "geek".

Echo-tek is the correct way, and the better way of saying it.

It's better because it's the official pronunciation of it.

You stick with your eeeco, and have the GM guys laugh their asses off at you whenever you say that in front of them. They'll say something like..........NEWBIE! j/k
