Dear Mr. Jordan,
Thank you for contacting Chevrolet and for your interest in the new

Cobalt SS Coupe in February 2005. There will be six Cobalt models;
the Coupe, LS Coupe, SS Coupe, Sedan, LS Sedan, and the LT Sedan. If
you would like assistance in locating dealerships convenient for you,
please use the dealer locator at the following website.

If you have any additional questions or would like to receive product

Ok so does that mean I won't be able to get an SS Coupe till March/April 05?! If so, i'm gonna be really pissed.

Has anyone been able to confirm this on the GM website or some more official press release?
Seems odd they would send out an email of this nature to a single person like this without releasing it on their website or to the general public.
Or maybe he got a customer rep who let something slip they shouldn't off???? If it is true I am not gonna be happy either.
I also noticed in other posts you wanted to get a Cobalt SS in auto, those only come in 2.4 L version I believe and those are delayed until next year according to rumors. I am only hope that email is in response to you wanted a Cobalt SS *NON* S/C However the fact the dealer didn't have any pricing info when I placed my order wouldn't suprise me if you indeed correct. Right now I am not believing anything until I see it in a more officail format.

I would post what I emailed to Chevy but I cant since I did it via Chevrolet.com. I replied to him today and should get a reply tomorrow. I basically just asked if he was absolutely sure that the earliest I could get a Cobalt SS would be April '05. We'll see.
I agree I didn't really wanta drive it in the winter, but I really need a new car ASAP. So for me, this blows big time.

Also they have the whole pre-order special for the Cobalt Couple, Sedan and SS Supercharger Coupe. Logic would suggest that if you are offer incentives to order these models a bit a head of time then GM would make sure they were amoung the first produced.
It would kinda be a$$ if GM took preorders on these specific models and then didn't produce them first. I was told to expect it around the first of the year. Which makes sense with the whole 6 weeks to get it from the factory to dealer. IF they did the first production run Oct 15th, it would be about the first week of december before they would get out to dealers. I am sure they have to do some Q/A on them first and make sure they aren't shipping junk (or at least I hope they would). Also I was told GM wasn't putting any caps on the number of Cobalt SS S/C they could order or any cobalts. GM is going to be jumping into a Super competive market and they can't drop the ball in the beginning and screw over the early adopters because they are going to market the car to EVERYONE else.

I'd still be more inclined to believes the promotions and information on their site. Seems odd they're telling you all this via email...quietly. I mean..why all the car hype, commercials, incentives, etc. if they weren't even starting production for another 4-6 months. Why accept preorders? Sometimes I wish car companies would communicate..seems like all the deparments are running around in their own world. Frustrating for the consumers.

I'm hoping these people who emailed you are mixed up betweent the 2.4 Cobalt SS and the 2.0 Cobalt SS S/C. Otherwise it is pretty stupid for GM to advertise the S/C right now, attracting people to lots only to tell them they won't be able to see an SS S/C for 6 months. You never know with GM though, communication (like everything there) works slowly. GM has A LOT of beuracracy to go through.
