Engine swap/Upgrade?

Hey I'm new and I got a 09 cobalt ls sedan for graduation. It's an auto but I really want a manual. Is it possible to put in the SS engine and make it manual? If so what would the price range be on it?

Big bucks. Sell that bitch and buy a used ss on here. Buy the turbo tho, so much faster.

It's easier to just buy an SS, honestly.

no offense dude, but that is not cost effective at all. even if you find a used LNF, the lowest price i have ever seen was about 4500. thats with out the trans, ecu, knuckles, axles, etc.

Swapping to a manual is a big overtaking in of itself, swapping engines even bigger.

Deal with the auto and put some forced induction on your LAP, or take the hit, and buy an SS, itll be cheaper.

Sounds like you are fine with the base model until you mature enough to realize the dangers of going that fast in an economy car.. Especially on the street.

Thats always the story, until a tire blows out because its not rated for those speeds, or an animal runs out in front of you, or you pop up over a hill with a very slow moving vehicle in your lane, etc...

I'm gonna see what I can do. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow for an oil change and I'm gonna try to scoop up the SS

good luck? Sometimes its just better to appreciate what you got, instead of spending more money on the SS, and or, do some mods to it, and enjoy the fact that you have no payment, and cheap insurance.

The insurance on my SS is way cheaper than my base model. ABS + Airbags in the Pillars + onstar + alarm = CHEAPER insurance.

Just wait till u total the one you have ......If you live through it and aren't in a wheel chair .......and don't hurt anyone else ......maybe you will be able to find an old civic with a 5 speed. They swap motor's in those all the time.

save your money and leave the car alone. it's not worth modding. save for 3 more years and put a down payment on something fierce.

Buy a transmission and il put my 07 ss s/c motor in it for 3500. you would just need to drive it down. I recently just did the swap in my car. went from ss/sc to sst/c. Love it. if your really interested pm me or look up my thread. EVERY PART FOR A COBALT SS
