Ethanol in gas...

ok we all know Ethanol is bad for MPG and performance. hence the reason i go to Sunoco because around here 10% ethanol is the lowest i can find. anything else is 15-20%... anywho. is there an additive or something to REMOVE the ethanol from your gas tank each time you fill up. so you have ACTUAL gas in your tank? like something you can buy from pepboys/napa/autozone etc... anyone?

i dont think it really hurts performance all that much. Doesnt Ethanol have a higher octane rating than regular fuel?

10% doesn't make much of a difference in anything and is all that a regular engine can take. There are talks of increasing it to 15%(Stupid corn farmers lobbying the idea.) but that would be a problem because regular engines won't be able to stand that for long before breaking down.

Ethanol does have a higher octane rating, but it's ******* farce.

like blue balt you know about wawa of course. you live in jersey... they have 20% ethanol as opposed to sunoco's 10%. everytime i ran wawa gas i'd get **** poor mileage and a noticable change in performance comparred to the dynolicious. i ran Sunoco FTW 10% ethanol my mileage increased and my power was restored. all i'm saying next time you fill up look for how much ethanol is in there gas. if unsure. go to Sunoco its the lowest percentage around. but i would like to know after i fill up. can i remove the ethanol with a additive or not.

I'll make note of it when I fill up next time.

Whenever I go to shell, it feels like I get more out of my tank.

I'm going to start going there for now on. The Gulf station around the corner from my has 10% ethanol in it too.

Does anyone know of any other station that doesn't have ethanol in the fuel?

me and my friends were driving past a shell station when i was on E. I noticed it was $.03 a gallon, thats right three cents a gallon. Placed got packed instantly, then like 10 cop cars rolled up running up to people trying to get them to stop filling their cars. I told the cop "ill take the nozzle out when my car is full". LMAO What could they do? i swiped my card and started filling for the advertised price....

It's getting harder and harder to find stations without ethanol especially in the middle of sugar cane country... sugar cane has more BTU's per ton than corn, the guys down here are going apeshit on this stuff.

Nah it was a new employee that screwed up the price and couldn't get it to change. so she called the cops to get people outta there, to wait for the owner to show up. She was running around freaking out. 110% true story

Not VA

I know of a guy that got fuel at the other major local station in his brand new diesel truck and it ended up costing him around $15,000 of new engine and labor. They drained the fuel tank and it was half water.

I'm not sure how they eventually settled the issue with the station.

There is a local Shell, but, I've had problems with their V Power before. I don't go there anymore.

BP has 4 refineries in the US. Whiting IN, Texas City TX, Toledo OH, & Cherry Point WA.

They bought out ARCO & Amoco in the late 90's. I work at one of them.

Two of the top 4 capacity refineries in the states are owned by BP. BP stands for Beyond Petroleum now.

Amoco Ultimate FTW! 93 octane but 10% Ethanol blended into the tanker trucks. It's an oxygenate for cleaner burning & lower pollution.

ethonal in fuel

usually rural gas stations near farms, lakes etc, will sell non-ethonal fuels.... farmers fill tractors that can set up long periods of time as well as boats located around lakes... Mitchell od5 has T.S.B's that do related mixture lean codes being caused by "ethonal content of 10 percent or greater triggering p0171 codes...See my other post because it happens on my car whenever i'm desperate or nowhere near home...however my father-in law, who retired from sunoco fuels tells me there is no damaging quality as long as the tank does not sit with fuel in it to allow the breakdown of the ethonal into water. Hence why rural gas station ussually carry etonal free fuel.... And yes ethonal does provide more bang in the combustion chambers under correct mixtures and proper tuning but at that point if its supercharged go all out to being a full blown alkey!!!!!!
