EVO/STI over SS

Hey guys. Qucik question. For the more experienced guys in the automotive world and modding. Decideing on an EVO MR before there gone and a STI isnt the easiest thing in the world. Just wondering from thoughs guys out there if you you help me out on what you think.

Best bang for your buck-
Faster-
nicer exterior-
nicer interior-
quility/better built-
easier to mod-
faster when modded-
Overall best-

And if anyone in New England knows where i can find one last black or white EVO mr let me know. Otherwise i might have to go STI. Thanks.

I think you get alot of bang for the buck with the Cobalt. *shrug* IMO the Evo 9 Mr is real nice and a little better then the STI.

And is it true that EVOs interior are poorly put together, people say the dash is cheap and stuff. And stuff rattles, guessing i cant put subs in there eh?

Best bang for your buck-EG hatch
Faster-Evo
Nicer exterior-Evo
Nicer interior-STi
Qaulity-STi
Easier to mod-Evo
Faster when modded-Speed is about money how fast do you want to go?
Over all best-They're so similar stock for stock I'd call it a draw. However pick your poison once you start modding. Which would you like to deal with least, a weak tranny/clutch or weak stock turbo? Two great cars.

Oh yeah if you're into seats that fold down to give you more room or to cool aftermarket amplifiers don't go STi, the rear seats do not fold down.

So you sayin the EVO tranny and clutch is **** pretty much and the STI has a weaker turbo? The Evo tranny/clutch wont **** the bed on a ******* launch or somethin though right lol. Unless its at a rediculous high rev. And what can it hold up to for HP? Cause i read the evo tranny is pretty decent.

The clutch for sure, and the tranny while not completely glass isn't exactly rock solid from what my friends w/ Evo's tell me. I can personally vouch for the STi having a crappy stock turbo. The Evo's turbo is way better. From my experience and what people I hang out with tell me, STi tranny>Evo Tranny. Evo's power on stock turbo>STi's power on stock turbo. You can get more power without touching the turbo and related accesories on the Evo, but you have to change the clutch at higher than stock power levels. On the STi if you're looking at much over 300whp you're getting yourself into a turbo swap. Pick your poison, both are great cars. Oh yeah and once more time, the ****** effing back seats do not fold down on the STi.

oh yea evo interiors are total **** quality read some reviews, get the STI, they got nice interior, exterior and better longevity. just remember theres always gonna be a faster car than yours somewere,

Bang for the buck- Cobalt SS/SC FTW!

used SS/SC 15 grand and up with LOW miles
put 3000.00 in it
pistons, pullys, tuning, meth kit, valves, clutch, traction mods, slicks

You have a 18 thousand dollar 10-11 sec beast

you will spend 40,000 on the Evo and 35000 on the STI to get those numbers, its just not worth it

but STI all the way, there not rallycross champions for nothing, the ******* cars can take ALOT of abuse with minimal mods

Your figures are a bit off my friend. $3k of mods will not put a Cobalt into the 11's, certainly not 10's. As for the STi going into 10's not on stock turbo. I've spent around $1900 in mods on my STi and it's no where near 11's. More like high 12's. Considering what I paid for it that puts me in your $35k mark for the STi. Can't speak for the Evo but I could find out.

The EVO MR is over priced for what you get and when you compare an MR to an STI the STI is the MUCH better bargin. The STI is also built so much better it's not even funny. Both mod well and are capable of plenty more horsepower for cheap and the EVOs tranny is junk.

IMO the STI is clearly the better choice of the two.

What's so superior about an evo or sti when compared to a Vette? More passenger room, more cargo room? You can proceeed to jacking off to the jdm imports in your latest Super Street magazine while thinking that the evo or sti is some sort of supercar.

$35-$40K could have gotten a C6 that runs low 12s stock, and has a hell of a lot more potential.

Hah hah, I guess I struck a nerve huh? Since you mentioned it yes. As I've told the confrimed Vette owner on this board, I needed something with 4 doors and useable trunk space. Vette's do not fit my needs. Now, while the Vette is an awesome street/drag car what good is it in daily driving conditions on rough roads/dirt roads? Evo's/STi's were made for Rally, let's get a high hp rwd car on a dirt road and race. Personally I don't have anything against Vettes, they're nice cars but some Vette owners are a waste of air. Could you please post up pics of your Corvette so I know you aren't just argueing about a car you don't have and never will?

Just so I'm not missing mags you said Super Street? I'll be sure and get that one for the spank bank.

You're right, I had the capitol to buy a C6, but as stated it didn't fit my needs.

Yep, that they will and are. My friend's Charger SRT8 gets way more attention than my STi has ever gotten. But I'm married with a kid on the way and coudln't justify a Vette.

Alright well thanks for everyones input, But what i beleive is that the EVO and STI are very nice cars and although people say the EVO has shitty interior, i disagree with that for some reason, i like the look of it and i guess its your personal opinion on the interior. But the place im getting it from, the owner, owns like 7 dealershps and my dad has been going there for 30 years so he knows us well and hooks us up, Buuuut he doesnt own a Subaru dealership where as he does own a mitsu. dealership lol so Depedning on how well it is the evo is almost a def. But thanks again.
