Is this example me not able to drive right, or is something wrong?
Is this example me not able to drive right, or is something wrong?
Recently I've noticed that in 1st gear of my SS/SC, I just don't feel any real power. Its hard to explain, but It just feels like the engine isn't spinning the wheels at it's full capacity.
When I accelerate hard from 1st gear, I get this feeling that I should be accelerating a lot more.
So, since I'm a naturally paranoid person, I fear that this is a sign of early clutch wear.
My question is, am I paranoid or is something wrong?
The only time I feel this way is in first gear after the clutch is fully out and I'm giving it plenty of gas. I just don't get thrown back in my seat like when I floor it in any other gear. Also, in no other gear do I get the feeling that my clutch is not engaged 100%
If I had a clutch that is starting to wear, is it possible for me to only notice it in 1st gear? Or would I be able to tell when I step on it in second gear also?

Stop spinning your tires?
One of the best ways to stress test a clutch is put it in 5th gear at 30 mph. Floor it and see if it holds. Don't do this for to long though. Just long enough to see if the RPM's jump or not.

Are you talking about something other than a clutch problem? A clutch problem pretty much my biggest fear, when it comes to owning this car.
I do have a check engine light, with code P0171. This code is for System Too Lean (Bank 1)
From what I've read its not supposed to create problems that are noticeable, although when I just googled the code to get the name of it, I read about a possible cause is a vacum leak downstream of the MAF. And the other day when I cleaned the MAF, I noticed that the seal between the air box and the pipe that goes to the throttle body is bent and probably leaking.
