i had a pacesetter catback when i had my 2.2 and the catback was great. people will talk smack because it's cheap and not stainless. it soudned great, install was easy, and it held up fine, zero rust or anything. BUT, once i put on a downpipe holy hell did it sound like complete ass. i mean to the piont where the ricers with ebay fartcans would point and laugh. imagine a shitty sounding chainsaw.

that's my expereience with it. i was 100% happy with ust the catback, added more parts and it was straught up embarrasing to drive my car. this time around with the 2.0 i spent the extra money to get better parts, and i will tell you it's well worth it if you can save up a little more

I have the pacesetter cat-back, under hard-hard acceleration or before the cvar warms up, I concur wit the above statements of ricers pointing and laughing...... aside from that, I have no problems whatsoever with the exhaust... when warmed up, it's throaty and not too ricey IMHO

If you are trying to make power and have something that sounds good I would go with the zzp cat back. It's a true 3inch exhuast, including the inside of the resinator, it's not smaller inside like some res. We made 465hp to the wheels through our full exhaust. I don't see the reason to buy a 2.5inch exhaust when the stock exhaust is already so close to that size. For all of you lowered cars this 3inch exhaust will also fit on your car.

I agree though, I've heard the Pacesetter once and it was bearable at idle, but that's about it. I'd go with a ZZP or Megan catback, probably the best I've heard in person. Your best bet would be to go search crazy and make sure everything fits, dig up some sound clips, but the best way to judge exhausts is to hear it in person, we all know how well Youtube does a nice, deep exhaust growl justice
It's all a matter of opinion in the end, what's ricer to one might be perfect for someone else. Check with the girlfriend first, if she doesn't like it you're in trouble

yea, I've heard better than the pacesetter.... but I have most definately heard worse......... it's jsut for the price that I couldn't apss on the pacesetter....... if you do go with pacesetter, my advice on th cat-back would be to maintian your stock resonator pipe

A 3" exhaust setup is way to big for a stock Cobalt engine, whether it be 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4. You can actually lose a lot of low end torque if your exhaust is too big. Bigger is not always better.

I recently bought an 06 Cobalt SS that had a Megan catback on it, which was too loud for my taste. I swapped it out for a Magnaflow catback which is much quieter. It anyone is looking for a Megan cat back, send me a pm. I'll make you a great price on it. Bob

Yes I did pitch our company's product because it is the best, and you won't loose low end torgue. We have done plenty of dyno testing for this exact discusion. The car is boosted by a roots style blower if we are talking about the supercharged 2.0 which helps make great torque down low. Yes it is too big for an n/a motor in most cases. You are talking about a lite front wheel drive car, if you do loose low end torgue can't see that being all bad.

On a V8, if you lose some low end torque, it's not a huge deal.........if it's a 4 cylinder that is lacking low end torque to begin with, losing even more torque is not good.

there is a 3 inch hahn group buy going on right now... if your plans are to ever go big or just decent amount of power that isnt raspy then go with this exhaust....499.00 plus shipping is a steal for this exhaust and this is coming from a guy who had a corsa exhaust...
