Exhaust Silencers?
Exhaust Silencers?
I keep hearing about exhaust silencers. Does anyone have any experience with these? I've got a Hahn 3in and I'd really like to quiet it down a bit, short of replacing it.
My Megan Exhaust came with a removable silencer, its nice if you don't like it loud or are going on a long trip. I think I've used mine once and I've had the exhaust for about a year and a half now
Silencers usually go in the tip of the large coffee can style mufflers (just and insert that bolts to the tip) and reduce the opening from whatever it is to like a 2" hole. It makes the car quiet but I would assume it robs the car of a lot of power too since it's blocking off exhaust flow.
What you want is a whistle tip!!!

Edit*** whatch them almost hit that car then run through the stop sign.

I have one for my megan cat back (not stock). It bolts in and takes it from 4 inches (I think) to 1.5. Makes it much quieter and looks like poop. I've only ever seen them for folgers can style tips.

Mine basically looks like this.

I keep the one that came with the Megan 2.5 on all the time.
The M-N1 style mufflers usually have them. It does make the opening from 4" to like 2-1.5".
Even with the silencer, I'm very close to replacing and losing a couple hp for some quiet driving besides at wot.
