Yeah no its cool i wasnt trying to come off as an ass. I was more wondering if someone ordered this before. The ARK antenna looks nice however, I need SUPER long range reception. I know if it is something that comes from GM they are gonna have to comply with "stock" FCC rules so even though it is a shorty antenna, it probably gets the same reception im guessing. They probably upgraded the material in the antenna to account for the loss in height.

yea, id email em and find out. for $10 it might be worth it. It just has to fit the 7mm stud on your cobalt. if you get one or an answer let us know. I might be interested especially if it gets stock reception back.

If you're located City zone, it will work fine, but if you're using it from suburban area, you will loose some frequency reception.
The second one is the reply from ARK RACING.... so theres your answer...

BUT i would still check in and see what the reception is like on these...

I cut my stocker and did lose some reception. all the antennas are tuned optimal reception. if you look at the image on the website, look at the raised edge that spirals around the antenna. it looks nearly 3 times as tight as often as ours. that probably makes up for the short height.

I emailed GM parts direct.. this was the response......

We do not have any way of telling if a part from another vehicle will fit yours properly without modification to the part. Please research parts that did not come on your vehicle from the factory to make sure they will fit your vehicle. No one wants to be stuck with parts that don’t fit due to bad information.

Thank you for choosing www.GmPartsDirect.com

Seriously, PM Tom from CED and ask him if he could order one of these or already has one in stock and then check it against a Cobalt...

I'm sure he'd be willing to do it. He's one of the best supporting vendors we have.

Wow... I love how they tell you to "research parts that did not come on your vehicle from the factory to make sure they will fit" when that's what you're trying to do!

Seems like they could've just said "Sorry, we don't know."

All right so from the best I can tell. shorty's that you can buy for the saturn sky (the guys that use these most) come wih adapters for 5 and 6mm so it looks like it is good for the 05 and first half of the 06 models.

talked to the guys that are putting these on their cars.... its a 5mm female antenna. so to make it work, we would have to drill it out and re-tap it.
