Remove the 2 bolts from the back of the chev symbol and it will come right off. It takes 2 minutes. I believe the gold logo is glued to the silver part though, So I wouldnt recommend trying to separate the 2.

its 2 bolts on the back of the grill and the emblem pops right off. if you want to paint it and keep the chrome around the bowtie just tape it off and paint. its easy

the way that I separated the two parts of the emblem was I took it and placed it so the gold part was facing like a tissue box, then I took my gf's hair dryer and put that bitch on high and pointed it right at the back of the emblem, let it heat up for a few mins. Then took a box knife, or something thin and sharp and just popped it out. Too easy

You should be able to separate the jewel from the housing with a little persuasion and sand the color off the back with very fine grit sand paper. Then paint the back whichever color you'd like- it will look factory from the front. Use an adhesive tape, not liquid glue when reapplying the jewel to the housing. You could make a sweet black bowtie this way

Lap the back of the jewel on a mirror with sandpaper over it for the best result.
