Fuel capacity?

This is a quick and easy question for you guys to answer. I tried searching but didn't find anything and my car was used when I got it and didn't come with an owners manual.

What is the fuel capacity on a cobalt? I have a 2006 SS/NA sedan if it matters. From past fill-ups I think it's 12 gallons but just wanted to ask.

IIRC, Cobalts in some states have 13.5 gal tanks.

Ahh. I asked because I got the ringy-dingy and had 20 or so miles til the next gas station. I put 11.86 gallons in. I was thinking that if it had a 12 gallon tank like I thought that I was cutting it a leetul too close.

I ran out of gas pulling up to the fuel pump, put in 12.9 gallons. If your car holds 13.5 you may have a car with the California package. Acutally, I think that cars in New York and New Jersey share that same package as well, so it is very possible you got a car with one of those packages.

Most manufacturers usully set the low fuel indicator to go off when you have 40 - 50 miles of gas left. So depending on the car it could be anywhere from 1 gallon left, to 3 gallons left. Most cars are usually in the 1.5 - 2 gallon range.
