Full Exhaust on an 07, 2 things that are different

Yesterday 68nova came by, and we put on his full exhaust. ZZP header/dp/hi flow and gm exhaust. sounds sweet, awesome growl, zero rasp, just real mean sounding.

so anyways, i've done exhausts on a few cobalts so far, 2 of which were mine, and a few for other members as well. this was my first time working with an 07. 2 things that were different was there is a heat shield right below the dp/manifold bolts. it seemed to serve absolutely no purpose other than blocking the path to the bolts. there was nothing there that it was protecting, the path straight down is just open space, the subframe then the ground. it seems like it's only purpose is to discourage people from working on their cars. it's held in by 2 bolts, one you can get from the bottom and i THINK it was a 13mm, and one which you have to get from the engine bay because it's on top. i was only able to get to it from under the hood. that one was a 10mm, and was a bitch to get to. i wouldn't have been able to get it by myself. i used the deep 10mm, a 12" extension, 6" extension, and a 3" extension. also there were some lines running directly across the top of the nut, so he had to hold them to the side while i got to the bolt. then it pulls right out.

2nd thing was that both 02 sensors were on the downpipe. never seen that before on a cobalt, usually the one is on the dp and the other is on the manifold. so for the people that have worked on 05-06's before, if you're taking off the dp on an 07 make sure you disconnect that front 02 sensor before you pull it out.

That is very interesting... so the manifold has no fittings on it? I would like to see one of those.

that's right. i got nervous at first, we already cut off the exhaust, and were working on the dp. then i looked up and saw the 2nd 02 sensor, i was thinking what are we going to do with that one

maybe it's just the 2.2's then. i've seen that on another 2.2, i think it was an 07 g5.
