E-bay search returned this...

dunno if it's OEM GM or not... but it's the only thing I've been able to find.

Thanks for the link.

$19 for a gas cap? I haven't bought one in a long time but it seems kinda steep...or is that the going rate now? I mean plus shipping etc.

All gas caps are standardized now. You don't have to go on Ebay. Go to Walmart and get one. It will sure as hell be cheaper than $19.

Standardized? 100% positive?

The CEL is why I was wondering about the standardization. I went to the Pontiac dealer by my place and they don't have a part # for a locking gas cap for us.

He said the standardization started in 05 and an off the shelf one may work.

He gave me the OEM part # and sometime in the next week or so am going to see if the local parts supplier can cross reference it.

they arent the same, i used to work at an advance auto parts. check with them, they might not have a part number out yet either. as for as the 19 bucks is concerned i think they were closer to 15 for the locking ones when i sold them, they sold real well when gas jumped.

You have to make sure the cap seals completly, and is not vented at all. If it is not 100% air tight, you will get a check engine light. I get customers with that problem sometimes, and all you have to do to fix it is replace it with the factory one. If you could get the same cap, but with a lock, then you will be ok.
There is no factory locking gas cap.

By the way, people with HP Tuners, can you disable the Evap codes with it? Or only the powertrain codes? If you could turn off the Evap emissions codes, you wouldn't get a check engine light. The car is very sensitive, it will get a light from a factory cap that isn't tight enough or has dirt on the silicone sealing surface.
