gas record. prices, mileage.. my personal numbers.
In case anyone is interested, I'm so far keeping track 100% of the gas receipts for my Cobalt SS SC
I'll try to update the page fairly often (if not after every fill up)
mostly in town driving, one weekend trip of 337miles (maybe 98% Interstate with cruise engaged ~80mph)
I've only done just a few little 'races', and tend to punch the gas now and then taking off from lights.. so it's not "granny driving" at least, more of a mix (including some cruising along at 30mph in 5th gear.. try that and reset your MPG display and watch the numbers... )
http://www.mike.vcn.com/cobalt/gas
all fill ups listed are 91 octane and I probably will try my best to always use 91 (there's no 93 in town that I've seen...)
As you can see, so far averaging 24.7 miles per gallon and about 11cents per mile
It's not fully scientific of course.. as I may "top it off" more on one fill-up than another and thus the 'used' gasoline in the previous miles is not accurately represented.. but.. close enough for estimates.
(and I see so far that it seems the car's computer calculated display comes up with higher MPG numbers so far as I believe it was reading around 28-29 for the 337 mile trip while the info here shows 27.33)

I average about 27.1 from what my indicator is telling me, but i barely get the thing out onto the highway much, nor do i pay attention to my gas and milage....when i see a sharp decrease ill have to start monitoring the car.

updated. includes Thanksgiving 530mile trip
http://www.mike.vcn.com/cobalt/gas
updated today. includes Thanksgiving trip over to Sundance, WY and Rapid City, SD
(also included some showing off of the car to aunt&uncle and grandparents, such as about 7 WOT interstate on-ramps from ~15 to ~80 , and also for fun while cruising along with almost no traffic on the Interstate a nice drop down into 3rd to go from 75 to 105)
I'm definitely very pleased with the fuel economy
total average since I got the car (for those too lazy to click the link above) = 25.22mpg

I can get 35 to 37 hyway. I am averaging 31 right know. This is grany driving though. I drive right at the speedlimit and no more. I still have some puch times on the weekend. I drive about 190 miles a day. I can get around 350 miles off one tank. I have gotten around 390 at one time. I can also get around 370 most of the time but it is vary hard to drive like a grany somtimes and wether has an affect also.

OMG, its so cool to see another Excel spreadsheet gas tracking guy! I do the same! I have a Pocket PC and as soon as I fill up I record everything in my Excel Spreadsheet!
Are you an accountant by any chance?
You only spent $259 dollars since September 19 th! I spend about $270 a month and have about the same fuel economy. I hate driving 100 miles a day

not an accountant ( hated the accounting class I did once take in college too )
just a computer geek.
I just take the receipt and that night at home I put the numbers in (not even as geeky as putting it in a pocket pc right at the pump hehe)
A large amount of my driving is town driving, I tend to like putting it in higher gears while cruising along 30mph and 40mph roads
(you get good fuel economy if you can cruise 30mph at ~1100rpm )

30mpg at 100 mph
I avg 28-29 hwy and 25-26 normal driving. I get a little of both on each tank and I come up with about 27mpg on each tank. 91 pump gas no additives
My coolest yet is 30mpg from Albuqerque to Amarillo and I had the Cruise Control set at 100mph from San Jon to just outside of Amarillo, about 100 miles.
That was quick trip.
Total trip is a little over 300 miles.

the computer in dash "econ" reading on mine showed about 32mpg for the trip where my math comes up with 28.8mpg
so it's estimation methods maybe aren't too accurate.
30mph in 5th gear ~1100rpm is above idle revs (~750-850rpm) so shouldn't be 'bad' for the car at all.
as long as it is like on essentially level ground and thus not much 'load' on the transmission and engine, should be same wear/tear as if cruising at 3000rpm at ~80mph

I average about 28-29 these days. Only on weekends do I get to drive spirited. Traffic is bumper to bumper morning and night all week long in NJ. Sitting in slow moving traffic doesn't hurt the gas mileage very much since it's more like coasting. However, If I hit a week where it's absolutely stopped everyday, I'm down to 26 or 27MPG.
