A couple things come to mind:

1) Don't beat on it constantly. This is how things get broken
2) Refer to your owner's manual. If you don't have one -> https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...alt_owners.pdf
It tells you what your regular maintenance intervals are and what types of fluids to use.
3) Then it comes to if you have issues with the car. Check Engine Lights (CEL) while not great to have usually give you the best information at what the issue is. If you don't have a scan tool, I would 100% pick one up. They're cheap enough these days there's really no excuse not to have one.
4) This site's search kind of sucks. So if you're looking for something specific, use some Google-Fu, and do a search like -> site:cobaltss.net + "Your Issue Here"
5) Check YouTube. There are lots of videos of people doing maintenance/changes for the Cobalt/G5 and most parts are interchangeable.

Outside of general maintenance, a lot of the problem items on these cars are a "have to know the signs" sort of situation. Like the timing chain tensioner. A lot of Cobalts are really simple. Especially the early year models. 08+ cars had a bit more complexity, especially the LNF, but in the grand scheme, they're still fairly simple cars.

I didn't find that to be true. When the car was a simple GM Stage 2 with bolt-ons, I beat the hell out of the car on a daily basis and it was relatively problem free. Like, 45 mph punch and run it until the end of 3rd or 4th every. single. day.

Even after turbo swapping around 65k miles, I got an awesome 30k miles of daily beatings out of it. Then I decided to get aggressive with the tuning... that was the downfall.
