general exhaust question. clamping legit? =

please read in entirety to understand what im doing and why i want to do it

well as seen in my other post, my vibrant exhaust needs to be welded together where it is split.

i made plans and an appointment for a quote, but i was thinking. uh oh. ha ha

what if i bought some stainless flex pipe, slid it over the joint and clamped it down. heres a diagram

red is flexpipe and blue are clamps. my reasoning is that if i dont like it i can take off my exhaust without cutting. or if i want to sell it. and if it breaks or doesnt work out, i can always have it welded later.

i did a muffler delete on my buddys mustang and used this technique to fill the gap where the muffler was. it is very sturdy and doesnt leak or anything. and i would be double clamping it and overlapping the flexpipe over the exhaust far so it is more sturdy (if that makes sense).

heres my friends mustang (sounds amazing btw, lol and only cost 26 bucks):

Yeah it should work...probably okay as long as the flex pipe is thick enough to take the stress from the clamps. It's just going to be loud so watch out for the popo or you'll get a noise pollution ticket; may not be good for emissions/inspection but I don't know. Just get that friggin sticker off!
