ghost in my trunk!!!!!

I can't figure it out. Almost every time I go to get in my car, I unlock the door with the remote, get in, and the car tells me that my trunk is ajar. Sometimes I randomly go out and check to see if its closed, and one time when I checked it wasn't.

I'm confused, but I think if I take the car to the dealer and ask, there would be no way for them to test something like that, and they'd just think I was stupid.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

I had that problem at first then I found out the trunk button on the keyless entry is real easy to push and it can pop it just by being in my pocket.

Hope that helps

Have you heard the tapping sound yet? Thats what I thought the thread would be about when I saw the title "Ghost in my Trunk!" Or maybe there's no tapping because it was able to get out, hence the open trunk.

Are you talking about when you shut the car off and then about 30 seconds later the back starts creeking and tapping??? Cuz if you are, I thought only mine did that.

You know whats weird is that I don't ever have the keys in my pocket when this happens. I always have them on top of the microwave, out of my kids reach (he was my first suspect) and I grab them off the nuker and head out and that's when I notice the mysteriously popped trunk.

It got to me the first few times, then I felt I had to do something about it, now I just live with it. And since everybody's car does that I feel alot better about whatever that is in the back.

And DSMissed... I think you DO have a ghost in your trunk.

Uh... we all know that ghosts aren't real. It's the TRUNK MONKEY, as has been disclosed on official TSBs. I know, GM might get into trouble shipping exotic animals across North America, but apparently they don't care.

Good luck catching you trunk monkey!

You just had to give a scientific explanation... at first I thought it was the rear springs. But it happened even when I was still sitting in the car. after that hypothesis was found to be rong I just gave it up...

The e-brake is crap. If I park on a steep incline I have to yank on the thing to keep it from moving.

Its probably just the car itself playing tricks on me, cause its mad I haven't been driving it much lately, so it has to do something to get my attention.

My Caprice Classic used to do the same thing when it still had a cat. Stick your head underneath the car and find out.

*Unless there is another sound, of which i have not discovered yet*

I HEAR THAT TAPPING TOO!!! I was about to post a thread on it to find out what it is, lol what is it?!?!?!

I dont think its the emergency trunk release, because, I thought the emergency trunk release was ALL mechanical, so how or why would it reset itsself?
