Think about it....

When the discount was going on the sticker prices on the cobalts was 2-3 grand more expensive on the 05 models then the 06 and 07's later in time. so plain and simple the money everyone got off on the 05 with the discount evens out to the sticker prices on the 06's and 07's

so it was all a marketing scheme to make money

Actually, after the most recent GM employee discount promotion, GM dropped the price of most Chevy's cars and trucks, Pontiac's, Saturn's and Buick's by $1,000 to 4,000 (depending on the car).

Most cars only got a 1-2 grand drop though. They did this because the incentive pricing they were offering was costing than more to promote and execute per car than it was to just drop the prices by a few thousand.
