The Saturn ION In Lordstown
Recently the future of the General Motors' Plant in Lordstown looked uncertain. Now, the mood is changing, with reports of a new car to be built right here in the valley.
Word of some 25,000 job cuts at General Motors had Commissioners in both Mahoning and Trumbull Counties scrambling to meet with Union President Jim Graham about the future of the Lordstown plant.
Now the mood has shifted, after reports that Lordstown could become the production site of the 2007 Saturn ION.
GM invested one billion dollars into the Lordstown plant for Cobalt production, resulting in strong sales of the locally-built car.
Graham says at this point it's too soon to say if a new car brings new jobs, but he's optimistic of the plant's future.
