Goodbye Recaro's

You're going to buy a car that will be outdated in a year? It will get a bit of resytling next year, and who knows if it will get the Turbo 2.0L or not. You could have 260 HP stock in '08!

The reason that I actually listened to the article was because they based the article on 2001-2004 Honda Civic's and bashed the 2001 (1st model year) because off the significantly greater % of problems with a car. Any time CR actually bashes an import I'm going to listen to the article.
The only thing I don't like about the 2005-2007 Cobalt's is the front grill. I would have liked to see them go with the body colored one from the 272 concept but it is not too big of a deal. I also like super > turbo, no flaming please just personal preferance.
Peace

Plus it looks great with black wheels and pinstriping.
Chevy.com has a pic of the recaro's in the interior gallery , but when you try to build a 2007 there is no selction for G85 anymore like there was for 05 and 06 . Before you had to select ebony with ebony interior for the G85 to show up ....not so with the 07 .
Who knows what there up too .

Isn't the computer and drive train in the redline which I think came out in 2004 almost identical except for body and the odd Eletronic device? If thats the case it would the 3rd year for the 2.0L drive train.
My 2 cents.

I wonder if the G85 price will reflect not having the seats . Thats too bad , the Recaro's are just one of those small details that IMO really enhance the driving expirience . I like mine so much , Im ordering the identical style seat ( top trendline) for my Z28 directly from recaro .

Once that validation work has been completed, the constraint on the Supercharged Coupe will once again be lifted.
You should note, however, that after the engineering validation, the RECARO leather appointed front bucket seats will no longer be available. The G85 Performance Package (which currently includes RECARO) will still be an available option, but will now include only the Limited Slip differential. Again, this is the last chance to get Recaro seats for some time.
they just added the last part today
this is from a gm hot sheet verbatim....if someone wants the recaros hurry and order

Also, for idiots like me, what do they mean by "engineering validation". Is this some form of a quality check or something similar?
My dad works at the GM tech center in Michigan, and as soon as I saw this post & the revised Chevy website, I called him to see what was going on. He told me that there is a problem w/ the Recaros regarding some new government regulation. Maybe that's what kind of "engineering" they were talking about. Luckily for me he was able to push my 2007 order in before the August 21 deadline.

I dunno how off base I am , but I do remember reading something to the effect that side bags will have to be attached to the seats in 2008 . Anyone know anything about that ? Whatever the regulation is is would have to effect ALL cobalt seats because the while the foam cushions that give the seats their shape and the leather/mesh covers are different on the Recaro's , the seat frame itself is identical to all the other Cobalt seats . Ive had both sitting side by side . So , unless its a matter of GM not wanting to invest additional money into the Recaro's ~or just a simple matter of the revised Recaro's not being ready in time to meet the new regs ......the new seat regs would not make sense . I would have to guess the latter . I bet the Recaro's will show back up eventually . Automakers do stuff like this all the time . If any option becomes unavailable at any given time , GM is certainly gonna pull all signs that said option is available without public explanation to cover their a$$ .
