The fastest GP runs a 14.5 stock. And thats the 04 and up.
Sorry bro but that info is false. The 97-03 gen of GTPS were usually faster than the 2004+ GTPS'. Some stock 2 door 97-03 GTPS have been known to run very low 14's if I remember correctly someone hit a 14.0 or 14.1 stock.. My last car was a 2005 GTP compg that had some bolt ons and I know many people with modded GTPS. If all he has is a CAI then you shouldnt have a problem, also the fact that he has a system doesnt help him at all. The GTP's that ran low 14's stock were mostly 2 doors (97-03) and they had a good driver. When I was all stock I pulled a 14.80 in my GTP. Good luck with the race, let us know how it turns out!

i thought you had a grand prix??? They are not expensive to mod..

you can run high 12's ALL day with $1500.

Full size intercooler
Ported manifolds/Headers
3.0" pulley
1.9:1 rockers
DHP (or a custom tune)
DR's

stock axles are very strong.

And that includes "installs" and ****..

now if you are like me, and have a dremel....

you can port your own TB to 72mm, port the blower fully, port the lower intake manifold, port the heads... get a custom tune for the MAF then, and it will still be $1500.

mid 12s... the only weak part is the trans. Get that built for $1900 (heh heh) and you will be set... getting over 20mpg city, and about 34mpg highway.

I have had 2 grand prix's... i would know.

They do not. My parents own a 97 GTP and I had it past that.

thats funny.. because 240hp with the drivetrain loss is 193whp..

and its 1.24, not 1.15

193whp x 1.24 = 240bhp the stock trans sucks

mine made it to 105k

put in a built trans... hooked me up for 1900... chirped the 1-2 upshift, and downshifts were damn near instant.

Here in all 4 videos you can hear my tires chirping the upshift...

that is with a 245/45/17 too

my buddies automatic SHO... mine was MUCH faster.. heh

One thing i really miss about the GTP is the amazing off idle torque. If it was only RWD.

What part of 224? I used to live near boardman before I joined the army.

Probably anywhere from 680 down to tippicanoe, right before you get into canfield. I would take him down to division street, half mile long everyone races there, but he wants to do it on 224.

I know Ill take him. Ive never seen a GTP run faster than a high 14 sec 1/4 mile, at least around here. Out at Quaker the fastest GTP I saw was a mid to high 12 and that was heavily modded.

All are FWD...

the FASTEST one of those 3 has a STOCK shortblock... (pistons/rods/crank) He has a big cam though, obviously.

the car he's talking about IS heavily modded. ive seen it too.

dont race him on 224, at least take it on 680 from a roll, or if you need to go from a dig go on division st behind vm star. or even salt springs down by the toys r us warehouse.

im not one of these **** on here who will tell you not to street race. if it "comes up", id probably race anywhere. but if youve got it planned out, at least pick a decent stretch of road.

i did have a gtp thats how i know you cant run 12's for 1500 , a full size intercooler for the gtp is 1,000 and that isnt including fuel rails or injectors, you need injectors to run a 3.0 ,your also the same guy that was running 13.6 in a gtp and then you put like a cam on it and were running 13.8's , you also said **** the gtp , your advice or "experience" is a joke

no no no no no that would make me wise! I am dumb because I made a post in the wrong thread I am so damn smart!

Mike

you also said **** the gtp , your advice or "experience" is a joke

Syp has plenty of experience with GTP's and I think he knows what it takes to run 12's in one. Just because he may have said **** gtp's does not mean he doesnt know anything about them.

**** cobalts!! Oooooooo no I now have no experience and should not give advice about cobalts becuase I said **** cobalts. Ooooooooooo nooooooo..

I am just thinking like you were for that sentence. I am glad you can see the immaturity in it.
