Every SS/SCC must have at least one of those seat trims, regardless of whether it has the G85 Performance Package.

The LT Sedan has only one option for seats
522 - Neutral Leather Trim

That's the only way they come. That being said, an SS/SC does not have the seat option of coming equipped like the LT. Period.

Ok, I think there is a mis-communication between us. I'm not saying the seats have the same leather or anything, its just on the second last page, a picture of the seats side by side look the exact same minus the colour difference. So that is why I figure the guts of the seat underneath the seats leather would be the same. I don't know though. I guess we have to just wait and see.

I just got a brocheur today, and it says heated seats standard on the Cobalt SS/SC. Also my build order mentioned heated seats as well.

Maybe its a Canadian cobalt thing???

For G85 you can only have the 194 seat option. No color options with the recaros.

Like someone said above if you goto GMbuypower and build a Cobalt SS SC they specifcally say heated leather bucket seats.

They are all going to be the same structure, whether it's made by Recaro or not. It's a price point. If the standard seat costs (let's just use big round numbers) $100, and the upgrade seats cost $125, but you lose five hours per 28 days of production switching from one to another, and another 3 hours verifying that the vehicles were correct, you're losing one whole shift per month just for a $25 dollar upgrade. With that info, you're better off putting the upgraded seat with the downgraded cloth in the base model vehicles and list the "nicer" ones as "Recaro" or Getrag or Zexel Torsion or Eaton or whatever GM's supplier is at that time. Just like every Silverado/Suburban/Avalanche/Tahoe/Blazer (full-size) sold since the 70's has an Eaton differential on it, just nowadays only the ones with the Eaton G80 fully automatic Locking Differential are listed as Eaton differentials.

The SS/SC seat has a larger side bolster and a different headrest on the same seat. The leather is "over-stuffed" and is actually made of high quality man-made vinyl, if you must know. Only the inserts are actually leather (from a cow). This is true of 99% of all automobiles made today, including Tahoes and Suburbans (and Yukons, Denalies and Cadillacs) and just about everything else. Vinyl "wears" better because it doesn't "wrinkle" or age like leather. The sides receive more "wear-and-tear" than the middle and thus are normally made of vinyl.

If you have your brochure handy you can note the difference. Page 28 shows the seats:

Heated, leather-appointed bucket. Standard in LT Sedan in Nuetral Only. Available in LS models in Nuetral, Grey or Ebony. Shown in Grey.

Enoby leather-appointed bucket with color-keyed inserts. Standard in SS Supercharged Coupe. Shown with Red perforated inserts. Note the colors below, they are all perforated.

Refer then to page 8 and 9, interior shot of LT with neutral interior. Note the position of the heated seat controls, below the stereo, above the climate control. And no, there is nothing in between the driver and passenger buttons.

Page 16 and 17 show the interior of the SS Supercharge coupe. Note again, in the same space as LT, no controls on the SS Supercharged.

http://www.chevrolet.com/cobalt says about the SS Supercharged "Leather-appointed front bucket seats with color-keyed perforated inserts." "Leather-appointed front bucket seats with heated seat cushions" is on the LT page. You guys are quoting the various pages on the GM websites like they were the bible, where there is at least one passage stating the opposite of another passage. (Luke 15:16 states clearly "Go Cubs" wheras Jobe 1-34:45 reads "Those from the windy city shall never prosper because of the curse of the Nomar")

Further, there is no G85-Performance Package available on the SS/SC as of right now. From what I can tell there will be nothing similar on the 05 model. The only options on the SS/SC (1AP37) are the following:
ASF - Air Bags - dual-stage, frontal driver and right front passenger and side head curtain * Required when (UE1) OnStar is ordered. (This is the ordering code for "side-curtain" air bags)
DT4 - Ashtray and lighter
UE1 - OnStar, 1-year safe and sound package included * Requires (ASF) Air bags
U2K - Sound system feature, XM Satellite Radio.
CF5 - Sunroof, power tild-sliding, includes mirror map lights
VK3 - License plate front mounting package
FE9 - Emissions, Federal requirements
NE1 - Emissions, Maine, Massachusetts, New York or Vermont State requirements
YF5 - Emissions, California state requirements
NB8 - Emissions override, California Massachusetts or New York (for vehicles ordered by dealers in states of California Massachusetts or New York with Federal emissions) Requires (FE9) Federal Emissions
NC7 - Emissions override, Federal (for vehicles ordered by dealers in Federal emission states with California New York Vermont Massachusetts or Maine emissions; may also be used by dealers in states of California New York Vermont Massachusetts or Main to order different state-specidic emissions) Requires (YF5) Emissions, California state requirements or (NE1) Emissions, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, or Maine state requirements
VCL - Emissions Certification, CFF (Clean Fuel Fleet) LEV (Low Emission Vehicle) Option <snip>
K05 - Engine block heater

There aren't going to be any other options, Sunroof, XM, OnStar, an Engine block heater and a smokers package is it. No different seats, no fancier dash.

It's very simple, kinda like ordering a Honda Civic Si or a VW Jetta GLI, amazingly enough two of it's major competitors.

Thanks for the info and clearing things up.

I am very interested in this option
VK3 - License plate front mounting package

Have you seen/can see if it is a full bracket, or just some holes in the bumper, or a full indentation in the bumper? Here in Ontario we need front plates and I am afraid it will look super ugly.

It looks like all three models (coupe sedan and SS/SC) have the same bracket. The front bumper has three "inverted bumps" that the bracket simply screws into. The bracket is simply a black "plate" that is flat and has multiple screw holes for Canadian/US differences.

I haven't seen one in person, but it should be very unobtrusive.

The cool thing is that because of this mounting system, as long as the dealer doesn't install it beforehand, you could put it off to one side for that "custom" look.

hey bluevillain... check with ur manager or whoever orders the cars, as of 2/17, G85 (performance package) became available to order on the SS/SC... available only with the 194 ebony interior...
also, on the chevy website, on the main cobalt page, it doesn't say heated, but on the build it page and on the comparison page, it says heated... they even go outta the way to say the SS/SC has heated seats while the focus and civic don't...

OK lets clear this up
I HAVE THE G85 package on my car My order was amended on Feb 17, 2005 at 8:42 to include the G85 package. This order has been accepted by Chevy THUS the G85 package is true. If I have to, I will get a new print out of my order and post it online to prove this.

Instead of arguing with you, I'm going to post the option list on the few that GM has listed in the nationwide system. Heck, maybe one of these belongs to one of you guys, but no G85.

These are current as of 10:08 AM EST, and these are all that GM has posted within 500 miles of Bowling Green Kentucky. There are others out there. but none of them have the G85 option package. I spent two hours last night with DBC and the Marketing Center, and I don't know anything about a G85 package.

Yes, the G85 is listed, but only as "Performance Package."

Tell me does yours have the SLM option package? If you really really wanted it, would you believe me if I told you I added it later on?

I don't know what the "Stock Order Identifier" is, but I can add it to any vehicle I order here.

If I told you it had the Getrag Tranmission upgrade would you believe me?

How about the Zexel-torsion LSD?

Then why is the G85 package any different?

So If I'm reading that correctly, you're telling me that those three cars that you llisted that have the SLM option, which appears to be stock? Are all going to come with a Zexel LSD? Or did I read something wrong?

BlueVillain this is interesting stuff. If I'm reading you correctly, you're saying you don't think you can order the G85 yet? My order was accepted into production last Wednesday, the day before you could supposedly order the G85. I had my dealer suspend my order until Tuesday, to try to add the G85 option. Maybe that was a waste of time, and delayed my SS further. I ordered October 10 so if that's the case, that sucks.

It is like every thread either has really good news, or really bad news, with every person comes a new rumor about production .... im so tired of this, I hope thats all most of the stuff reported is- rumors, I feel most bad for the people who ordered back in October, as I only ordered 2/3 weeks ago. I dont want the G85 performance package, didnt order it, I just want my SS S/C, why put out all these god damn commercials just to tease me, about once a week I see a person dropping out of the wait and getting something else, something tells me Im gonna be the next to fall because of this bullcrap.

Thanks zinner, I thought the show production car they had at the show was basically what you are going to get. I hope they come with heated seats myself, but when i ordered mine the dealership never said anything about them. Do you know if they come on all the ss models?
