Hello All and one question

Hello Everyone, I bought a 06 SS yesterday with the LSD package. The forums gave me soo so much information already however but one question can not be answered. I even looked in the FAQ's. My question is. do we have a traction control system? if so, how can i turn it off if needed? also, i live 10 minutes above Philly, Pa. In a place called levittown. I actually met one member already he was at the same dealership with his friend attempting to buy a nice evo.

the 05-07 cobalts SS's do not have traction control at all... just abs... hope this helps.

From 08 and up, I believe that all cobalts have traction control, and stability control. Anyone, correct me if I am wron on the 08 and up info.

not sure about your facts on the 08's, but I have an 06 and you're correct there was no traction control option for that year. Traction control is like training wheels for people who don't know how to launch anyway. Raining? launch slower. Sunny and dry? launch faster and worry free...lol.

my 08 has traction control and electronic stability control, both can be turned off by a button, press to turn traction off, hold for esc off. I haven't heard any older modles carrying the traction control. so i'm not too sure

The 07 SS/SC does not have traction control, but the 07 SS N/A does.

There's no traction control *THANK GOD* on any SS that's supercharged.

I think you're thinking of torque management to get better launches?

Not all N/As have the ability to turn it off either, which sucks.

I drive every winter. I prefer a car without traction control a million times over a car with it. I hate this new push that traction control has to be standard bullshit.

I hate traction control. Any car I've ever had with it on I"ve always turned it off when driving in the winter. I'd always finally get the car moving and then wham! the traction control would kick in and slow me down and screw me over. I hated it! I love that the SS/SC has no traction control!

Well thank you for the quick response, and i really do appreciate this forum. So many answers just by using the search button. the car is still under warranty @ 26k. i will be purchasing the extrended warranty for discount because i work at GMAC and I'm a foreclosure specialist. The car will stay stock except for a heat-exchanger upgrade aka intercooler, intake, cat-back, short throw. All i know is that this car is the best thing invented since philly cheese steaks.

No i have not driven the T/C however the day off the purchase of the car i did do something ricer ish... mind you i'm with www.ricekiller.com... My friend has a 05 ACR SRT-4 with hard pipes, HKS BOV and 17 lbs of boost... he kept raggin on me taunting really... so i gave him 2 runs. one at a role from 20 and the other from stop. the roll we were next to each other and ran out of road. so we turned around and did it from the stop. and we alllll know the outcome of that... i owned by maybe 5-6 lengths. it was late night, nobody EVER on this road and it is a half mile straight with a slight bend in the road but not a blind corner ya know? i told him if he wants to run his mouth again meet me at ATCO.
