well I think the 06 remark is some what valid...... if you look at the history of chevy they start producing the next years model some where between july and september, that's only 4-6 months away.

Are we talking about milk here?

July is three or four months away.

If you look at the history of Chevrolet you get a whole lot of old cars, and you get the Cavalier. I thought that the general consensus on here was that the Cobalt is not the same as the "history of Chevrolet."

If they build them in February and sell them in March, what happens when they build them in November and sell them in January? Heck, what happens when they build them in October and sell them in October? October of the next year? Who cares.

The Cavalier and the Silverado typically have the earliest build dates. But most new vehicles are released either during or immediately after the summer season.

The reason that the production calendar is setup like that is because the three best selling months of the year are always the three months that the kiddies are not in school. Thus, they schedule the release of new vehicles to coincide with the slow decline in sales of a particular unit.

Who buys the Econo car? Students and young people mostly. Sales peak at the same time the kiddies go back to school. Think it's a coincidence?

But according to you a car built now should have a date of six months from now?

Isn't that bad if they do it on milk? Then why is it good if they do it on a car?

Besides the only logical reason they should go from year A to year B is when they stop production and retool for upgrades and scheduled changes in models. Everything before is A and everything after is B. They haven't released A yet and you're already talking B.

Well expect for the Cobalts ), it seems like the next years model always gets out earlier and earlier. But I think I can wait. Hell everyone else has been waiting since Sept/Oct so I will stop bitching about me having to wait.

Yes, but not all of us have a new G6 to drive around in for the meantime. Some have junker cars that are dying by the day, others have leases due up or sold thier cars already and need to be out of them soon, or others such as me had their cars written off and have no car at all. I am being bent over by having to pay for a rental everyday I don't have my Cobalt

Me having a G6 doesnt have anything to do with it(I've worked very hard for what I have and I'm only 21, and I'm not saying you havent I dont know you). Being impatient isnt going to speed anything up its just going to get you more frustrated. Dont think I dont understand how it feels. If you knew all I have been through with my cars.....I'm not happy about the wait either but there is also nothing I can do about it. I'm also not happy with the fact that when I emailed chevy asking them some simple questions they responded back with some scripted response that tells wrong information. But the bottom line for everyone who is waiting is 2 things. We can all either wait for the car, or go and buy something else. The G6 for the most part stays in the garage with my dads car. I'm usually driving my 2002 Grand Am which I'm trading in for my Cobalt SS/SC. The only reason I am actually so patient is because right now on the Grand Am I'm running around a $7,000 negative trade in value. The more time I wait the more money I can put down and the less my payoff is on my car.

I want everyone to start getting their cars as much as anyone else. Dont take what I say the wrong way.

Yeah, I wasn't directing that personally at you, I was just trying to get across why some people are being impatient. If I didn't manage my rental car office, I would be going crazy too. I get a rental car at half price which is really helping me out, but driving a base base base white impala is wearing thin.

OHHHHHHH, I know that feeling! My Alero that got written off was going to have NO resale value! It is horribly low like your grand am, but people are scared to buy an Oldsmobile because they think they'll get no parts for it. I was looking at a $8000 buy-out after my leas while my car by then would be worth like $4000 if I was lucky Thank god that mail truck hit me

Ok thats cool, I understand. The dealerships seem to be just as unhappy as many of you. I was talking to the manager yesterday at the dealership that has my deposit and order. And he told me that most of his information comes from me and not chevy. Knowing this no wonder the car is nearly 4 months past due. There seems to be little to no communication.

The funny thing about my Grand Am is that 6 months after I bought it I was in a fairly bad accident which was not my fault. The repair bill was a little over $8,000. I was so upset that they didnt total my car because its never been the same I have gone and had it repainted 4 times now. Ive had so many other problems and of course the car is now out of warranty. I also purchased GAP insurance on the car when I bought it so its not like the insurance company had a huge burden by totaling the car but they wouldnt do it. So I'm stuck with a really bad resale value because it had front frame damage.

Tell you what, anybody waiting on their Cobalt is more than welcome to drive my '86 K5. It's got a 6" lift and 38's on it, giving it only slightly less than 12 mpg. If you pay for the gas it's yours as long as you need it.

When I spoke to my dealership about the Cobalt SS, they told me Chevy was not even taking official orders for the SS yet. They told me I could place the order with them but they wouldn't be able to submit it to where ever they submit those things! They told me most likely I wouldn't see the SS for at least 8 weeks. I am so sad!

Are you talking about the SS or the SS/SC? The SS won't be available until much later than 8 weeks. The SS/SC is slowly becoming available now.
