Help Stop Wheel Hop
Help Stop Wheel Hop
I took my car to the track last friday and yesterday and got my first perfect launch 0.00 and wheel hop like a mother F*er and i want to know what is the best traction mod to do first to stop/eliminate wheel hop
lol ive never seen so many posts in so little time haha but i think everyone agreed thanks guys ill be buying them this week Solid mounts and Ingnalls TD both from cobalt addiction
If you're experienced in modding cars and dedicated to power, i say fill your stock mounts with polyurethane. Cost me $25 for two tubes of polurethane and that was more than enough to fill all 4 mounts (yes there is an elusive 4th mount which makes all the difference in stiffening) and i filled two mounts on my sloshy mazda protege drivetrain.
TTR mounts and inserts, and zzperformance billet mounts are said to be great if you were to go that way, but you'll be spending $100's of dollars replacing your bushings and mounts and still nobody i know sells an aftermarket 4th mount. (4th mount is located on the top driver side where all the hopping happens)

soulja what did you run at the track, can you post the time slip? I told you in your last thread that you would need to eliminate the wheel hop remember? Blah if you want you can pm me and I will give you a run down of everything your going to need to achieve the goals that we both have haha.
To eliminate wheel hop, the most important thing you need is the prothane transmission mounts from turbotechracing.com then its either the ingalls tq or the solid motor mounts, its basically just personal preference which ever you would rather install or buy basically. I think I am personally going to go with the prothane tranny mounts and the solid upper motor mounts.
Heres a link to what you need in my opinion.
Prothane manaul transmission mount.

Solid upper engine mount.

i got them from Bwoody these are the full race version and where 300 the economy is a lot cheaper..Race version you get the chromly ends and the guys at the shop said they kick ass and where easy to install havent driven the car yet because i am in iraq
oh and incase your wondering the website is www.bwoodyperformance.com
and if you think you can break them i DARE you to try.. they make solid mount's for 900+WHP SRT4's and have NEVER had a mount break.. and there full race traction bar's are SICK.. i was able to to do 4k clutch drop's with NO hop.. but make sure there tight.. cause if one get's loose you WILL snap an axel.. like i have..
I ran a 14.387 with only injen air intake, on a perfect launch my time slip is at home ill see if i can post. Wat was also awkward i finished at 100.37 mph and my 6 runs before that i ran 93 93 93 97 96 and 96 so i mean a great run for me even though i got smoked by a volvo wagon with a license plate reading vovette and under the hood running a corvette engine twin turbo haha. i was still proud.
At the risk of offending everyone as I have said it before,
I will say it again. UNtil you rotate the engine, up 10mm at the rear pitch mount down 10 mm at the front pitch mount, you will not have the axles running in line, output from transmission to hub center line (M35 LSJ.
The root cause of the axle hop, can be traced based on what I have found to that issue. Sure the mounts are too soft stock, and the FLCA bushings are too soft, but the poor axle is trying to rotate at a 17 degree angle horizontally and go up and down vertically in ride travel ...think about it. We have made mounts for the Cobalt they are used in every Grand Am cup Cobalt...for the street, I am sure it will work. and no i havent fitted them to my Redline yet, that's next months project. PM me ONLY if you are interested in buying (not cheap)
Cobalt rotated mounts I may have a couple on the shelf...
