First I would recommend that if you do not have the aftermarket projector lenses to get them. The HID's will be a lot more effective then putting HID's on the stock lamps.

Second there are a lot of different HID kits. You should be paying at least $200 bucks for your HID kit. Anything lower and you will more then likely get a shitty kit. Pay for a good one and it will last a lot longer and be easier to install. PnP (Plug n Play) is the way to go.

Yes you can, and they even come with the bulbs. They are H1 for the low, and high beams.

I would have to say that I basically just disagree with everything you just said. Now I dont want to start a whole other "Reflector HID vs. Projector HID" war or anything, but there are plenty of pics and videos out there for him to make up his own mind on which looks better and so on.

As for the price thing, again, I know of a place where you can get a VERY high quality kit, and 3 year warranty with EXCELLENT costomer service for $126 shipped. Now I bought my kit from a well known vendor (Vision Bulbs), paid $200, and I got a blown ballast within 3 days of installing the kit. They were very slow at responding to any type of contact, and their customer service was just not the best. What does that say for price?

Now, for the Plug n Play deal. No. Just no. DONT use plug n play. Every universal kit comes with plug n play connectors, to draw power through existing harnesses, and they also come with an optional relay harness to SAFELY draw power directly throught the battery as to not overload any existing wires. They were not made to withstand that kind of power (at warm up).

Now, to the OP. Check out this thread:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums//showthread.php?t=68295

It has all the info you would need in order to purchase a well made HID kit, and some videos of what they look like in regular reflector housings as well. It also includes a How-To on installing them using the relay. You can serch for pics/vids of HID's in projectors if you want to compare them. If you need any further help with anything, dont hesitate to PM me.

AjSS, yes I agree that you can buy a high quality kit that can cause problems, or a lower quality kit that will last forever. I was just talking from experience.

As for the PnP, I have used nothing but the PnP without the relay and have NEVER had an issue. I had HID's on my Matrix for 3 years and never had an problem with the wiring. And currently I am using the PnP on my Cobalt as many other people on here are as well and no problems. Yes you can have problems, but they are probably as rare as having problems with the kit in the first place.

Now using the relay to draw power is safer, I agree. The kit that I bought for my car did not come with the relay harness option, it was only PnP. If PnP was so bad, then why does EVERY manufacturer offer it with their HID kits??

I want to make sure you understand that I was not making a personal attack against you, I just strongly believe in going the safest way possible, even if it takes a little extra time. I have not personally used Plug n Play wires, because I know that the fused relay would be much more reliable.

I also understand that you are speaking from experience, as am I. I had trouble with a more expensive, non e-bay kit, so I was just stating that by going with an expensive kit doesnt mean you wont have problems.

+rep for for constructive criticizm

Aj

Well I cant rep you right now for some reason, so I will hit you up later.

Oh yeah bro! I know that it was not a personal attack. Criticism is always a good thing!!

And as I said the relay is definintely a much safer way to go.
