Hit a milestone...
Couldn't find one. But the repairs are not pleasant. Something fragged and punched a hole in the transmission casing....I know I could've fix at least 3 fingers inside. If I ever hear that sound again it was making prior to failure, its going straight to a shop.
Just an fyi, incase I'm not the only one that had limited experience with manual transmissions prior to this car. If you hear a sound that sounds kind of like a wheel bearing, that's what the clutch sounds like shortly before catastrophic failure.
Well, 2 weeks and $3875 later, its back! Clutch, flywheel, transmission, and had them change my serpentine belt while they had it. The holes (yes plural) in the transmission casing, one was large enough for me to fit my fist in, and I could have put both fists in the internal hole. The spider gear from the differential had actually sheared a tooth. The pressure plate edges were mangled. Now have the GMPP clutch and fresh transmission, almost a new car.
Argh, scary. I'm at 63k on my 06 SS/SC but I've beat the crap out of it and am putting 30k+ a year on this car. I can't afford a clutch by itself, let alone anything else that might die with it (the whole trans?!).
Ah well, I'm hoping to trade up for a T/C in the next year or two. Just gotta make it last that long.

Yeah the clutches in these car's can last if you treat them right! Even in just the base model's also! My oldest bro has a 2004 2.2 ion sedan he has had since new and with 187K on it and the factory clutch! Also factory shocks and springs man that thing bounces on the highway! Lol
