this seriously cant be right

i mean, think about this

all the dealerships are just barely getting them in now plus all the advertising they are doing just to release 700? thats not even enough to cover all the dealerships!

plus with the special orders?

I cant see this happening

I think GM is smarter than that to only release 700 cobalt SS's with this much advertising and promotion

Gas mileage??? Is that a non-issue??? If so, it's a no-brainer!!! (IMO)

Yeah its an LS1, 350hp, 350 lbs-tq, i believe around 18mpg....my ONLY hold-off is that it looks a little grand am/prix -ish

I saw one on the street and it caught my eye. It's not flasy, and its a completely different class of car relative to Cobalt. I had a LS1 Z28 a few years back and it was awesome!

I'm surprised GM hasn't sold more GTO's because it really appears to be a serious car. The problem seems to be price point --- there's a TON of world class competition at $33k. But if you can get an 04 for 23k (I think you said at or near the SS price) it's a serious value!

But cost of operation (gas) will be HIGH! 18mpg??? No way (unless you drive like a grandmom)

Yes...I find this very strange as well...the canadian cobalt SS commercial has been on TV pretty much daily for the last couple weeks...all for a car that no one will be able to get....this would be a serious! fumble on GMs part

I am looking seriously now at the Mazda 6 V6 5 speed manual (it would tow my sea doo much better too) and a used WRX
MikeSS,

That's exactly what I did. Got tired of waiting forever on something that may or may not show up anytime soon so I went and bought a new 05 Mazda6s 5-door auto two weeks ago. With the Ford X plan from my work (can use on mazdas) and some incentives and rebates I was able to get a 28K Mazda6 5-door for 23K. So far it has been a great car. BTW it is the first non-GM car I have ever owned. Gm's loss for jumping the gun on the SS.

(doesn't waiting defeat the purpose of not waiting?)

I'm just curious why people think it's not going to show up. A little late obviously, but it'll be here eventually.

Curious to know how many cobalts you make a day or week whatever is the best way to quantify it.

I dont hate Canada, some of the coolest guys I know are from Canada. I think the reason why they are canceling the orders is because they are close to stopping production of the '05s, which is kinda stupid in a way since they didnt start prodcution til what Jan, and then starting '06s.

I think it has to do with Financials and sales of the 2005 models, ect. Probably more than I can understand, but most large companies need to close out 2005 number and start 2006 number at some point. It's probably nothing to do with the cobalt and probably a rule that GM won't produce a 2005 model after March 31st 2005.
