How to disable auto light?

Is there any way I can easily disable the automatic lighting feature on my 09 Cobalt SS/TC?

I've killed the DRL already, but I still cannot prevent it from turning on the exterior lights whenever I start the car in low light conditions.

Did you try flipping the light switch back twoards you? it should ding and say 'auto light off' on the DIC. Flip it again to turn them back on if you wish.

Go under the hood and pull the DRL fuse. You can also add a 1000ohm resistor to that little ball thing on your dash, its the sensor that turns the lights on when it darker in the day. Thats how I have mine set up,so I can drive with my halos on,without my headlights being on.Its like a 2min mod

The DRL fuse was already yanked, the autolight still turns on the headlights when I start it up in the morning or when I go through a long tunnel. Can I just remove the optical sensor?

None of my other cars do this, and it wears out the headlights unnecessarily. The autolight/DRLs do not reduce the voltage to the headlights either.

Yes. Whenever you start the car and take the parking brake off, the headlights automatically come on. Its pretty annoying, there is no need to have the headlights on during the day when its bright out, they don't help anything.

I've gotten in the habit of just flicking the headlight switch to "auto off" when I leave in the morning.

the lights on during the day is suppose to be a safety feature, i can remember during the 80's polls being done with the headlights on, use to be big sighns on the side of the road asking you to turn on your headlights during daylight hours and i believe they did accident reports on days with them on and off..
