how do i clean my air filter?

please dont flame...it is the GM intake filter that i believe is DRYFLOW. it didnt come with paperwork to say how to clean it. i just know i've had it for a long time and have never cleaned it.

It depends. If it IS a renewable one, just clean using an AEM cleaning kit. If it ISN'T renewable, you have to blow it gently with an air hose, and eventually replace it.

i would first learn for certain what type it is.
last thing you want to do is wash a non renewable filter...
or wash an oiled filter without reoiling....

In a pinch you can wash a dryflow filter with just clean filtered water, but its better to use the cleaning solution.
dunk it in a bucket, and swish it like a washing machine.
but DONT allow any water in the hole, only through the element,
you have to keep all contaminants out of the middle.

once youve given it a good rinse, shake and spin most of the water off and let it dry.
AEM filters dry very quickly because they have water resistant properties,
but I left mine in front of a fan overnight to be certain.
