How do you like your car?

I've been looking into a few new cars, and of course, the cobalt ss s/c is one of them. Are you pleased with your Cobalt SS S/C? I'm more interested in the handling and ride aspect because anybody can throw out specifications on HP, 1/4 mile, etc... I want your personal opinion. Thanks.

Personally I love my car. It handles about as well as you're going to get a FWD car to handle. On the stock springs the ride seems fine to me. Overall, without writing you an essay, for the price I paid, i couldn't ask for more out of the car, accept maybe the stage 2......I'd say buy one. The low insurance is always a plus to.

I just made a short video of me driving around normal-ish.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/pictures-videos-64/crusing-around-my-cobalt-ss-video-12076/

It might be of some help.

I'm impressed with the video (haha, yeah, atmosphere!). I'll do some research on the whole ecotech thing because I'm new and I know you guys in moderation will probably track me down and shoot me for asking what it is. It's kinda weird, I'm attached to a car I don't have, and I've only sat in (for like two hours... my girlfriends car is a peice of crap and we spent about 4 hours at the dealership). It's going to be rough, but I'll see what I can do by June or July as far as being able to afford it. Thank, I appreciate all the help .

No problem.

Yeah the new atmosphere album is pretty good.

Ecotec is the engine line, it's not like vtec is to Honda.

The car is a lot of fun, I definately suggest taking one for a test drive.

Call me an idiot, but im pretty sure that I'm not old enough in the state of PA to take one for a test drive. I'm pretty sure you have to be 21 here. 3 years to go, haha.

I test drove my Cavalier before I got it and I was 16 at the time. Granted this was a while ago, but I don't think things have changed. You might have to have someone who could potentially cosign a loan for you to prove to them that you're serious, but I don't know of any law that says you can't take it for a test drive.

Can speak of both the 2.2 world and the SS/SC world.... (friend has an ss/sc!) The SS/SC handles really well for a "stock" car! My 2.2 needs some work which will be fixed here shortly with springs, anti-roll bars, and the such! But all things compared to the SS/SC is a very good driving and handling car... and you just can't beat that supercharger whine sound either!!!!!!!

I love my car, the only thing that kinda bugs me is that it would have been nice if it was turbo. Not complaining about the S/C cuz it has held its own but besdies that, I think i have a great car through and through.

I'm gonna be honest and say that i'm not the biggest fan of the car anymore. At first i really liked it but after a couple months i'm not the biggest fan. The lack of aftermarket parts is also a killer. I would say that since your a younger guy you might like it more then I do. Not bashing the car because overall its a great little sporty car, but i really dont think there is anything special about it. Remember Sony and their "My first CD player" well I kind of feel that this is like "Sony's My first sports car". Just being honest with ya. I'm going to be trading it in around spring. I'll keep it through the rest of the winter and then i'm done.

Sounds like the first year blues... Imagine how it was for us Cavalier people early on in the pioneering days of the sport compacts... we didn't have anything for the longest time.

Anyways, I just have the base coupe and i love my car. If anything, i like it better now than when I picked it up in June.

if i remember correctly, you have to have a parent with you when you go to test drive a car. They don't have to be in it, just there when you give them your license and stuff. At least thats the way it was when i test drove my cobalt and a used mustang GT...when i was 16.

I don't have a SS/SC, but I do have an 05 LS. I have been very happy with it so far, I bought mine back in December. It is going to be my long term project car, even though its only a 2.2 and a four door. I get my biggest kick out of sleepers. I would suggest a Cobalt to anyone. Good car all around. (Except don't get red, its hard to keep clean.) :-(

It might be due to the fact that I live in a VERY dusty desert climate. It shows the dust like nothing else.

This car's a POS. Buy the '06 Civic Si. At least you get a quality product with Honda. What a ******' disappointment this car has been for me. It's really too bad - I though I would be a GM man for life but I should have known better than that. GM can only compete in the V8 marketplace at the moment IMO.

N.B. I speak for myself here. You wanted feedback so I gave you my honest comments. Hope it helps.
