How do you like your car?
cobalt general impression
I got the LS 5-speed and don't think you can beat it for the money, if you can find a new 05 Cavy maybe. It rides better than the Lancer OZ I traded in and handles about the same. Am averaging 31 mpg and have more than enough power.

Just commenting on the test driving part. I took out a $50,000 F-350 Powerstroke and a $40,000+ Ram 2500 Cummins when I was 17 and all they did was ask for my license. Love the big trucks too.
I don't own a Cobalt (have a POS Grand Am) but I am looking at getting an SS/SC within a year. Have heard a lot of positive things about it. Its fast, handles pretty good, looks great (especially in orange) and its cheap. What more could one ask for?

Didn't GM brag about this car being their "tuner" weapon to compete with the Japanese product out there? I seem to recall yes. Well looks like a bunch of guys who are trying to tune are getting resistance from the car's PCM so what gives???

i did have the idle problem but a reflash with updated codes fixed that
I love it so far! Granted, I just got it a few days ago, but I still love it. No problems as of yet (and I have read some of the problems ya'll have had after a few days!)--the only thing that annoys me is the sunroof is noisy when it opens. Is it supposed to be or should I have my dealer look at it?
Oh and I have an '06 SS 2 door Silver loaded w/ everything but XM and Onstar, both of which I didn't not want. There is no Stern on XM!!!

Sounds like you got a lemon. Unfortunatly there is always 1 bad one out of the bunch and you got it (knock on wood). I like my car, not love, it is fun to drive and I put a lot of miles on my car. 60 a day to be exact. Theonly problem I have is that my stock shifter is busted. The dealer had to replace it cause the top silver emplem on the shifter broke so they replaced the whole shifter andnow sometime if I am shifting hard, it won't go into 2 or 4th but the dealer says it is finecause when you shift slow it does not do it. other than that, I am happy, stage 2 I am looking forward too. I also like it cause you don't see many on the road.
I am going to have to agree with Ang (2006ArrivalBlueSS)..
Now I will not go as far as calling it a POS.. Cause first.. I have a first year car (2005) and I mean with the problems I still don't feel it's a POS...
Now I still am not as impressed with the car as I though I would be.. It's a fun car to drive and such, don't get me wrong.. But I am not as happy with it as I was before I guess..
Just like Ang said.. It's been in the shop more then I have been able to drive it.. And all for warrenty work (minus this last time, it's in cause I crashed it)..
Problems I have
1) Rattling spoiler (dealer is stupid and has yet to fix it. They keep tighting the bolts, but I told them it needs new double sided tape_
2) Tranny went at 340km (or so) along with the drive shaft.. Don't know what happened.. I didn't spin the tires or anything. Just a little wheel hop.. And the whole tranny goes..
3) Almost every single bodypanel was out of whack. The whole car needed to have a body panel realignment cause I mean it was bad.. Pissed me off big time
4) Paint isn't the best in some areas.. Has been since fixed
5) Passenger door panel leather too short.. I have been told there still is no fix for this
6) Sunroof doesn't open up as much as most other cars with automatic sunroofs..
7) Rim was damage when I got the car, it was marked up.. Maybe from the truck I Don't know
8) Seats material kind of sucks, I mean all the butt marks and such.. I wish it was a little more forgiving
There is some other little things here and there that pissed me off.. I mean it's a first year car and such but the way the bodypanels were on this car.. Well that was just uncalled for.. Everything has since been fixed (except the spoiler and interior.. spoiler isn't a fixable problem).. I wish it had more options on it..
If you ask me.. It was more of a glorified (sp?) car when it was introduced.. I mean your paying a decent amount of cash.. So if you ask me it's pretty much a normal Cobalt with a supercharged thrown on and interior upgraded..
Like I said.. It's a first year model and stuff.. And there are the cars out there that are lemons etc.. And I think I got one of them.. So that pisses me off.. But since it's mostly fixed its been a decent car and such.. Just a little more problems with it then I would have expected for a brand new car even being a first year model...
I am trading mine in (or getting someone to take my lease) once I get the fender and hood fixed.. I am thinking I'd rather have a pickup truck which was what I was going to get orginally... But I just happened to see this thing come out in the market during my search.. And I just had to have it.. Thinking a done up sports car right out of the box.. And that's is how GM sold it..

That for the price of the car there isnt too much more on this car compared to a LS.. Not even heated seats, and not even an option.. Now that sucks!!!....
