how to "launch" in rain??

i'm still relatively new to the driving a manual transmission, and its supposed to rain BAD today, and whenever it does rain i seem to spin out a lot. is there some way to launch without spinning out? i usually just end up giving it too much gas on accident trying to go slow by barely letting off the clutch..

do it smooth, you can actually let the clutch out without giving it any gas, it will start on its own.

starting in 2nd is kinda difficult in this car... and letting the clutch out so it will "start" itself is damn near impossible... especially when breaking the vehicle in. I've gotten so I can start in 2nd and etc... but I still don't like doing it.

Best bet from my stand point... work on finding that "sweet spot" and give it just a little gas... let off the clutch slowly... if you ride it a little, it won't hurt too much.

lmao, yeah, THATS good for it.

seriously, the 1337 method is to let the clutch do the work... when people are new to a real transmission, the often give it gas and use the power to hook up the clutch. sort of a laid back powershift. the real trick is to keep the engine at whatever RPM and let the clutch grab. i assure you, it will. try it on an empty parking lot or something. hold the car at like 1000 RPM, and try to go with JUST the clutch pedal, you'll pick it up sooner than you think.

start in 1st, then if you get wheel spin, shift, it almost always works, and thats what the driving schools usually teach you.

just give the gas pedal a few taps with youre toe bouncing the rpms around 1000 while letting the clutch out slow and when you hit aroun 10mph shift into second. If you keep your foot out of it you shouldn't be spinning all the time in the rain.

what is your tire pressure at? this could be an issue

Yep. Those new to a stick should practice starting without extra throttle. Later you can add slight throttle as you ease out the clutch. Starting from a dead stop with excessive throttle kills clutches and is counterproductive in slippery conditions.

You should be able to take off from a stop with only the clutch. It seems you are just giving the car way too much gas so just lay off that when taking off. Just play around in a parking lot to find the engagement point and you will be fine. This car has a good heavy clutch so the engagement point is very easy to feel.

Just give it enough gas to get it rolling in gear. You wont spin by going in gear. You will if you give it to much gas. Man Im not looking forward to the winter lol.

If you are spinning while launching, then you seem to be giving it too much gas. If you keep the RPM between 1000 and 1500 while letting off the clutch slow, you'll hook up with no spin, and you'll get going. You just have to practice. It took me about 3 weeks to finally get launching nicely down.

that's just how you learn to control the clutch. to get a smooth acceleration you give the car gas and let out the clutch simultaniously altering both to give you optimal smothness and power to take off.
