i don't see why people wouldn't rev match when they downshift, unless they like getting out and puking

Rev matching is when you go to down shift and match the revs with a precise little jab of the throttle in between the actual changing of the gears so you don't get that annoying lurch/drag.

Heel-toe is basically the same thing only you are on the brakes at the same time.

I have a couple of spots, like some sweeping off-ramps and stuff where I get nice heel-toe practice, hard braking and going from 4th to 3rd to 2nd to make the corner. Feels really nice when done correctly, impresses people that actually understand what you are doing.

It has a learning curve in these cars...I was used to a 2nd gen DSM which was easier to heel-toe...these things have uber progressive brakes for a reason that is for damn sure...just takes awhile to figure out how to keep the brakes on smooth while gettin the rev you need

i always rev match but i never use the heel toe method with having my right foot on the brake while using the right foot to raise the revs at the same time... i'm not that good yet, plus i'm usually wearing my steel toe klunky work boots.

I do both. It's just one of those things you learn while driving clutch that you do without even noticing.

work boots here too, if im just cruising theres really no need to rev match cause im always under 2500rpm. but if im gettin it then yea heel toe.

rev match everytime and heel toe as much as possible. Still getting used to it. I feel like an idiot though every time I mis match the rev or hit the brake harder as I rev.

just from logic, tell me if I'm right:

heel-toe is when you're downshifting to slow down (stop, take a corner)

and rev-matching is when you drop a gear to get more grunt?

right?

cause I don't see how you could rev-match on a downshift to slow down without heel-toeing!
