Close story to a lot of folks here.... had a '01 Ranger with a 4.0L that I had done a lot of custom work to. I was only getting like 18 MPG city, which is where I spend most of my time driving. So when gas jumped and truck resale values took a dive I unloaded mine for the SS. Now I fill up every 2 weeks instead of every single week.

My story begins many years ago when all my parents bought were chevys and i loved them. For my 16th birthday my dad bought me a 1957 ****** and we spent the last three years working on it. I love that truck but until it gets the bugs worked out of it i needed another car. So i bought a 1984 blazer more or less it turned into a money pit such as new tranny, rust every where and wanting it to be nicer(one day it will be done). By the time i got through that i started to drive my ****** and the 350 HO sucks up gas like crazy getting 10 MPG so i look at a cobalt and loved the SS so i bought it too. Now its my daily driver until winter then my ****** will be back in operation. Nothing like V8 power

I liked both of them but the gas prices and the payments were making it somewhat prohibitive to have a truck. I liked the Cobalt SS/SC from the first pics I saw of them, and I'd still love to have one. Unfortunately it isn't practical for me right now, so I went with an LT Coupe. Even though it's not an SS I'm happy with it, and I have a few ideas up my sleeve for improvements. Nothing radical, but it definitely needs a spoiler so that will probably be first.

All in all I'm happy- I got a good-looking car, lowered my payments and insurance, and I'm getting at least twice the gas mileage I got out of the truck. There may or may not be an SS/SC in my future, but I plan on keeping this one as a daily driver regardless.
huh...spoiler. I'd like to get rid of mine. Is yours granite blue? Ah your in PA anyhow

I used to own a Camaro. I love Camaros. I wrecked it though while I was young and inexperienced. Then I owned a Cavalier Z24 for over 6 years. It had 136,000 and while the engine was fine, everythign around it kept crapping out. It wasn't worth fixing to me.

I wanted to return back to sports car. I also wanted a new car to not have to worry about fixing anything for several years again. The camaro was out, so I needed a replacement with power. I heard about the Cobalt SS in March of 2004.. I was pretty found of the Cavalier and the Cobalt upgraded every fault I had with it. AND it fit my budget and had a nice interior. So, I had made up my mind a long before it came. At times it was rought with all those delays and I considered going elsewhere, but I just kept coming back to it becaue I don't like turbos and all the competition was either turbo, or NA with no torque.

And here we are today. I've had my SS since June 8th, have 4800 miles on it and it's been running great. Certainly a nice car, but I am always aprehensive about new problems being discovered since it's a 1st year. So far, so good though. My sunroof button trim is still intact and I get 12.5PSI boost! Not to mention my leather still fits correctly in the door. So, I've avoided many of the common issues with my car.

I've owned mostly Chevrolets since 1996 when I bought a 1991 Cavalier RS coupe. From there it was that 91 Cavalier, 88 Cavalier RS coupe, 96 Cavalier coupe, 99 Cavalier Z22 coupe, and my 98 Cavalier RS clone coupe... It got to the point where I really liked what I saw of the Cobalt and started checking them out. In November/December of 2004, I ordered an Arrival Blue 2005 Cobalt coupe from Adirondack Chevrolet. I waited and waited for that car until March. My brother happened to work at the same dealer and called me telling me the car was in. I went out and the car was everything I ordered except instead of a 5speed manual, it was an automatic. I despise automatic. Hate it, loathe it! So I go in with my order receipt and ask where my car is. The salesman comes right out and tells me that they figured that I couldn't get financed for it, so they changed the order to a car they could sell. Just like that. Bunch of ******* bastards.

So after that huge disappointment, I decided that I was going to keep my 98 Cavalier until the world ended, the car fell apart or burst into flames, whichever came first. But, alas, one afternoon back at the end of June, me and some friends were out roadtripping around (before gas spiked into the stratosphere), and they stopped to look at an 03 Cavalier. I started looking at the Cobalts and decided that I wanted one. So while they were out beating the snot out of the Cavalier I had the salesman start the papers on a black 5-speed Cobalt coupe they had rolled off the truck like an hour before I looked at it. I never even drove my car... I pointed to it and said 'That one". Three days later, i took delivery of my car and havne't looked back since. I took delivery of my car on June 27, 2005. It was built 05/05 and had 6 miles on it... Now, it has 9500 miles on it and seems to be running just fine. My friend Josh is green because he and his girlfriend bought a leftover 04 Cavalier 1SV coupe because they didn't want to wait for the Cobalt...

Anyways, that's my story.
