i got some Questions
Pros: -Supercharger spools up nicely and creates a broad powerband.
-Car has good handling from factory, and can be sufficiently equipped with a Quaife LSD.
-Looks better than the alternatives, better overall interior and sound.
-GM offers stage kits to help increase performance while still keeping factory warranty.
-Car already has a decent aftermarket with only 1 year of existence. This means that if GM keeps building and selling these cars, the aftermarket will only increase.
-Assuming you have the essential upgrades, the car should generally hook-up better than it's biggest competitor, the SRT-4 because it has a smaller engine, meaning less torque.
-It's only 17-18,000 bucks in most states.
-You can get it with 0%APR
-Car has LOTS of potential to upgrade, and the power levels that the car WILL eventually make will be astronomical and devestating to the imported sport compact vehicles, as they will not compare to the Cobalt and SRT.
-Comes with lots of goodies that you have to purchase sperately for other sport compacts.
Cons: -It has a supercharger instead of turbo. The current blower is very limited with it's power limit. If you want more than 300whp you'd better be planning on extensive mods to the "power adder" section of your engine bay.
-It's FWD with lot's of torque. The car doesn't hook-up well at all, just as the SRT-4. Neither of these cars will do well unless you get smaller, fatter wheels with taller, softer, and thicker tires, preferably slicks when racing. You also will have to consider lowering and stiffening the chassis atleast moderately to hook-up.
-Although the aftermarket is doing well for it's first year, it still doesn't change the fact that it is limiting to what mods you want to do to the car.
-The car's clutch sux butt. If you modify anything and dog the car out often..you can count on investing your money into a better clutch of some sort.
-The axles don't like anything more than 275whp if you find a way to hook up.
This last con might not be a con to you, it just depends upon how you want to be seen. You will be hated by the following: Honda's, Acura's, some Dodges, Mitsu's, some LS1's, Mustangs, all trucks that aren't SRT's , SS's, or Lightnings and pretty much all imports that are sub-par level performance vehicles.
The car runs from anywhere between 14.2 and 15.0 second E.T.'s. It really depends upon atmospheric pressure, tire size, pressure and of course...the driver. I think with a stiffer suspension, slicks, and a good driver that the STOCK SS/SC can do 14.0 E.T.'s. Maybe even better. All in all, the car is awesome. Just drive one..and you won't have to be asking anyone whether or not you should get one. Trust me..it's a fun experience.

Pros:
Probably one of the best bang for the buck cars undoubtably.
Ricers will want to race you and you will be smiling at them in your rear view
Beat bmw 325's! w00t lol (i loved doing that, i still feel great about that haha)
Comfortable interior, sexy exterior
Cons:
SHORT first gear if you get the ss/sc. I get pissed at how fast i feel i need to get out of first
LONG second gear... seems sluggish for like a second until your rpms hit about 3000.
thats about all that adam didnt cover
edit: oh and adam is 100% right. all trucks that see me want to race me. i dont know why. and i beat every single one of them.

The pros and cons have pretty much been covered. If you like being the underdog then go for the cobalt. No one thinks these things are fast and that's the best part.
My advice is to go drive one and drive whatever else you are interested in and go from their.
