intake install error

Friend of mine with a g5 got a used K&N intake for cheap, didnt come with instructions but he figured it out. I asked him if he remembered to disconnect the battery and he said no, didnt know you had to. Car runs fine he said, would that hurt anything not disconnecting the battery?

Should he disconnect it for 10-15 min anyways to let the computer relearn?

Unless this was just done I wouldn't bother, the ECU will learn the new air flow rates on its own after a bit of driving; Disconnecting the battery just speeds up the process.
