Unhappy Intense and Scott Cook

Just in case you have not heard what this vendor has done in the past i just wanted to let you know so you do not have happen what happend to us.

Intense released their "dyno tested" pcm for the grand prix. Shortley after that membbers started chipping pistons 3 and 6. Scott started making excuses on why the engines were blowing....ie. need bigger injectors and an endless amount of other excuses. One of the main problems with their 2004 gtp pcm was that it was commanding too much timing and....boom! goodbye engine. This was discussed on www.clubgp.com intensivly and all Scott did was make more excuses then remove his sponsorship of the forums and shortly after made their own forum which thy would delete any posts that pointed at their pcm being the reason behind our engined blowing chunks out of cyl 3&6.

There are countless posts about this like this one http://www.clubgp.com/newforum/tm.as...anguage=single and some that have gone past the 1 year post limit which automatically deletes posts after that date.

We have also had other problems with their products and all he made was excuses.

I have made this post not to bash anyone but to warn you when you are about to mod your car please do your research. Have a great day and enjoy all your go fast goodies.

I don't know what to say to this. I haven't heard anyone blowing up their car with their stage 3 kit (when they had the maf t). People had problems but they were almost always worked out.

So far no one has had any problems with their pcm's (even though they haven't been out that long). I hope this is not the case for the cobalts. I'm really sad to hear this because I really like Intense and their products. I guess I will have to wait and see.

I too don't know what else to say to this....

I've encountered only one problem so far with my products, but it was only user-error, and nothing more. With Rob's addition to their team, (Hoosier Performance) I'm sure that if there are any issues or uncertainties they are being corrected before release.

Companies are entitled to mistakes sometimes.. I'm sorry to hear that this has effected the GTP scene in the way that it has, and pray that history doesn't repeat itself. Thank you for the warning, though, and I'm sure that our community for the most part will be on cautious alert.

He's right, i came from the Grand Prix world over at Clubgp and it seems like there was a post just about everyday complaining about them. Which is why i didn't hesitate to wait for GM's Stage kits, instead of going intense.

So far, Intense and Scott have made a reputation for being prompt, honest and upfront with every product they have offered.
We have had people inform this community about the past regarding Intense and the GTP community. Trust me when I say this, they have been scrutinized to the n'th degree and not given a free pass.

This is the chance you take with going aftermarket. To get the most power out of a car you have to be aggressive with the tune. Sometimes it is right on the border of reliable everyday use/ abuse.

The GM stage kits won't give as much power as possible because reliabilty has to be factored in. But you end up with decent power that you can take on a long trip with out fear of getting stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Intense is trying to give everyone what they want when they come calling....POWER.

Hopefully for the fellow Cobalters here that went, or are going the Intense stage route, that there is a nice 10% safety margin in fuel added to the PCM tune so the same issues don't pop up here.

Just my $0.02.

It's good that you posted the info here. Buyers should always be informed as much as possible about a product/ company before buying from them.

I just hope for Cobalters and Intense themselves, that those issues are in the past.

Sometimes companies jump the gun on new products, ideas etc to get a leg up on the competition and it bites them in the ass...and other times it works out fine.

Time will tell for the guys and gals here.
