Interceptor issue(yes I searched)

Ok, I hooked up my new interceptor gauge and am running into an issue. Yes, I searched, but couldn't find the issue being addressed, so I'm gonna go through the issue step by step.

Be advised, I'm a total newbie when it comes to wiring, so if it seems stupid, it probably is but I don't know that yet, so here it goes.

The gauge I got came with the OBD hookup, a three wire plug and hookup, as well a mysterious 2 prong hookup with a red cap described in the manual as a "jumper".

I ended up having to hook the red power wire in the tri wire set to the green wire in the factory harness. Hooking the red wire to the red harness wire caused the gauge to stay on and the aftercoller pump to be running AFTER the car had been shut off and key removed. Hooking the gauges red wire to the gray harness wire seemed to work fine, until I realized it caused the front corner lamps and gauge cluster to remain lit after the car was powered down. That left me with the green wire, and the ground wire.

I connected the gauge's red power wire the green wire, and plugged it into te back of the gauge, and it seemed to work fine at first, but here is the issue:

When I start the car up for the first time during the day, the gauge will start up, but within 10 seconds it shuts down completely. Now, when I leave work, the gauge starts up with the car, ad stays on the whole way home(about a 30 minute commute). I have no clue what's wrong, but I am wondering if I should have hooked the factory ground wire to something? Also, what am supposed to do with the "jumper" setup?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Sunroof fuse? Isn't the fuse panel on the passenger's side of the car? I'm mounting the gauge in the factory pod, and I'm not to confident I can fish a wire all the way down to the fuse panel. As for the groun, just ground it to the something like the a pillar, or is there an actual grounding location?

Your answer is in the 1st 4 pages of this:

If your firmware version is not 2.2, then find the correct manual for your version here:

The interceptor grounds out through the OBD2 port.

If you don't want to use the sunroof fuse... the one slot right above it is rated for up to 20A and is fully open (at least on my car it was).

I read that and I'm still confused about it, especially that "jumper" hookup. I ran through the search threads here, and on the aeroforce site

all you should have to hook up is a switched 12 volt...and plug into the ODBII port. I just t'd the red wire for the stock boos gauge and it works perfect.

hooking up to the factory red wire left the gauge on and my aftercooler pump running for well over 10 minutes after I shut the car down and removed the key

The jumper is supposed to be specific to Ford vehicles:

Ford: You will notice a jumper on the back of your gauge next to the main
connector. Leave this when using the OBD2 port for power. The gauge is
configured for this from the factory. If you discover unreliable on/off
operation of the gauge you can remove this jumper and connect the red wire
of the 3 wire mini connector to switched 12v. This will force the gauge on/off
when the ignition is started/turned off. This will not be necessary on many
Ford vehicles, but may be required on some pre-2000 model years if the gauge
will not turn on or off properly

That being said, I can't remember if mine had a jumper on the back or not (I'm not going to go pull them) as I got the dual set. If the regular ones do not have a jumper I'd say you wound up with the wrong version or you can try removing the jumper and wiring as listed above.

Look at the fuse box under your hood.

Find the fuse labeled "IGN" i think its a 15amp.

You could either A. buy an add a fuse kit and waste money.

or

B. Bust out the voltage meter, and find out which side is the fused side..then just wrap a wire around it, run it through your firewall and voala.

Gauge turns on when you turn the key on, gauge turns off when you turn it off.

Thats how I have my Boost Gauge & Interceptor gauge hooked up.
