Intercooler or condensor?
Ok wasent sure where to post this thread so here it goes.
I was having a coffe the other night at the local donut shop (Tim Hortons) When some guy comes up to me and starts checking out my car saying how nice it was and all. He asks me if it is intercooled and I say yes. He, being curious, wanted to see so I lift the hood being a nice guy and let him have a look. Now hes telling me that he dosent think it is intercooled and that what I thought was my intercooler is just my A/C Condensor. He was willing to bet then I made a wager. So whos right here?
Ps. Just a friendly wager next time I see him.

Water To Air Intercooler
Not as easy to see as a FMIC.. Front Mount Intercooler..
The Water Intercooler consists of a heat exchanger in the front of the car, and one in the intake manifold. Coolant is pumped around the system...

Yes your car is intercooled. Your intercooler is betweent the intake manifold and supercharger. Attached to it is a heat exchanger located between A/C condensor and radiator.

Both accomplish the same task and that would be cooling down the hot air charge going into the cylinders. But thanks for making a post on such a trivial matter as a name error in an effort to prove someone wrong to make yourself look SMRT.

Um....our cars are definitly intercooled. Look it up, it will say that the SC is intercooled. The intercooler is between the supercharger and the manifold. Look on eatons site as well. I do see where you are comming from though. But I do believe that you are just misunderstood.

I'm not going to argue or anything. I'm still working on an engineering degree, so I'm no pro.
But, I do know that magazines, books, websites, forums, etc... call your typical Evo intercooler, a "front mount intercooler", but by your explanation, you say its a aftercooler. I've also never before seen or heard of a water/air intercooler, whether sandwiched under a blower or inline after the blower and before the throttle body, called anything other than an intercooler.
That is my only point. There are to many newbs on here who look at the heat exchanger and are going to start calling it a front mount aftercooler or something. Just don't want anymore confusion than there already is.

The only persuasive argument I've ever heard for calling it an after- rather than intercooler goes as follows-
The original term was aftercooler, because it cools air AFTER the charging system, versus on the old piston engine aircraft which ran inline turbos and had both an INTER (meaning "between" for those of you that missed that) and an after cooler. One cooler ran between the turbos and one ran after them.
Cars however do not often use inline charging with a true intercooler. The phrase intercooler when used referring to cars means "between (there's that inter) the charger and the manifold".
So the only real difference is whether or not you are trying to be the word police and maintain that all words should only be used in the sense that they were originally coined (which would really drive most people to say you are an insufferable ass) or if you accept that languages evolve over time, and realize that this is one such case where the terms have become interchangeable for the most part.

Air goes into filter.... which travles threw intake Which is then Sucked into the COOLED SUPERCHARGER... and the forced into the engine.... there is no ""INNERCOOLER""

If you want to be technical your definition of intercool is wrong. To intercool is to cool the air between 2 charger systems. Mostly used in airplanes the intercooler is located in between the sequential turbos.
But I digress, now a days they are all known as intercoolers.
