No. This article is BS on the normally priced cars. I got a reasonable rate to insure a S2000, let alone my Cobalt.

Here is a similar list from MSN, placing the SS/TC @ #13: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/lounge-42/most-expensive-insure-list-cobalt-ss-174532/

Can insurance companies adjust your rates way up when they renew? My SS/TC's insurance isn't bad right now, but I'm worried they might raise it when the policy expires this year. Is that even allowed? I have a perfectly clean record and I'll have turned 22 by then.

Wow, ya I don't quite understand that. I pay $100/mo for a Cobalt SS AND a Dodge Megacab. The Dodge is more than the Cobalt.

So a Cobalt is four spots behind an R8 and ahead of a Viper and a GTR among others. Well...think it's time I go get me a Skyline!

My insurance seems to be right about where all of yours are. I'm paying $250/month for 2 SS's (06 SS/SC and 07 SS/NA), along with renter's insurance. I think the articles from MSN and Jalopnik are full of fail. My policy is for 2 driver's over 25, married, and I have a speeding ticket for 5 over. I also have a $250 deductible for liability and $0 for comp. Renter's is worth $20,000, but will be switched to home owner's tomorrow (closing on house). My brother had a 99 Ram V10 4x4 that was running him a hell of a lot more than my entire policy.

The thing you have to remember is that your rate is also based on your driving history and other factors (Tickets, etc.). I have never been in an accident that was more than a couple starches and I drive about 15,000 miles a year. My insurance has dropped like clockwork every 6 months; plus I got the All State deductable down $100 every 6 months from $500 to $0

With you and I both owning 08s we may see an increase when it expires in 09. In an earlier thread I indicated I asked the insurance agent at LEAST 5 times if she was SURE it was showing an SS/TC since my payments dropped like a bomb. I was expecting some dropped when I changed comanies, but not a margion of nearly $60/month over what I was paying on my '05 LS. It will be interesting to see what happens come renewal next February...I might be eating cheese and crackers on a regular basis if they determine their initial quote was WAY too low!

One thing I'd like to know is did they just do an average of what people are paying for the car? When you think about it - if a younger person (and thereby higher risk according to insurance companies) is going to buy a sports car is it more likely to be a Viper or an SS/TC? I'm pretty sure they're comparing apples and oranges here.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the most expensive cars to insure are probably Veyron, Enzo, CCX, etc.....as they are all over $1m and break well into 200mph

Thats about right most of the insurance companies want about $1700 and thats only for 6 months. I thought it was funny when I got my car I notice that some insurance companies didn't seperate the SS/NA and the SS/SC. I guess thats how they get you though.

The Cobalt doesn't thave the best crash rating on the market for some reason. For instance when I traded mine in on my BMW my insurance dropped by more then $50.00 a month! And now with my G8 its still $40.00 less a month then my Cobalt was to insure.
