Just Looking for a little help.
Just Looking for a little help.
Hi guys, Im new to this forum so i wanted to introduce myself, and ask a question for the more mechanically inclined.
I have a 07 Cobalt Ls, that I purchased brand spankin new right from the factory in 06, 2 miles on it lol (they said they had to put at least 2 miles on it to ensure everything was working correctly)
I have been modding little things here n there but since the car itself took up most of my money I never really got too much done.
I have Injen CAI, Pacesetter catback n headers, Magnaflow exhaust (cuz the pacesetter one sucked) Dc sports strut bars and spoiler (cuz i like the look) along with various other appearance upgrades; rims, under glow, ect....
Anyway, I finally got me a job making 80k a year so im going to have quite a bit of spare cash to dump into my car. So my question is simply what should i get.
Currently what i have in mind is
N02
Cry02
a turbocharger (not sure where to get)
and some good brakes (also not sure...)
Please if you could give me some idea's and links that would be much appreciated.
I am looking mainly for performance but to keep the car a daily driver and appearance

I would immediately trade this car for a Cobalt SS/TC. It seems like that's the car you're trying to build as far as performance goes and it'd be best if you just started modding a better Cobalt. Just my opinion, though.
You missed the part where i got this car straight from the factory, I saved up for it for My entire highschool career and bought it the week the 07's came out in cash. Literaly took a tour of the factory and drove my car from there... it was custom built for me... It has sentimental value...

Dude, @ 80k you just got a ticket out of your cobalt LS (or keep it for DD/Winter beater whatever). Save your money for a new project (something RWD OR AWD). If you pour money into your Cobalt LS it will be wasted.
better suspension, brakes, seats, ground effects, rims, gauge cluster, there's more I just gotta think for a sec. And I wasnt raggin on your money saving, it's just if i had worked that hard and saved for that long, I wound not have spent that $ on a cobalt LS, that's all.
If it has such sentimental value, I would honestly leave it as stock as possible and just enjoy it as is. Modding can become destructive and you could end up seriously regretting whatever you do to your car.
Well for now... can we just assume im not getting a diffrent car, Sure I want a Vette, Ive always wanted one... but even at 80k a year, I am also married, have 1 kid and 1 on the way... and cost of living is crazy high here for no reason at all... 1600/month for something that dosnt look like a crack house... cant justify buying an all new vehicle (nor do i have the credit to do so) as much as i can spending 1-2k a month on my cobalt
At $80k a year ditch the Cobalt LS. Even with 4 kids and $4k a month house payment, 100/month cell bill, and $4k a year on car insurance you could afford a Corvette right now.
At least get into a Cobalt SS, you're literally pissing away money into the LS. No offense to LS owners, but it would cost more to build the LS into a better car then to buy a LNF or LSJ.

I like how nobody has come remotely close to answering my questions... I didnt realize this was a forum where everyone would dump their car at the first sign of money... I love my car, dont want to spend as much as a vette on it, just 10 maybe 15k... I want to save some money too... you know, take my family on vacations... I will buy a new house before i buy a new car... I was just looking for some help for the meantime. since the timeframe between now and me owning a nice expensive car is like 5-10 years from now...
A lot of people have been down the road you want to go down. Some of us might actually care about what you do to your car and dont want to see you do something you'll regret.
If you really just want your questions answered, then you're better off searching for each item on your own instead of just asking us to spood feed you links to the parts you listed.

Many people have gone down the road of modding the 2.2L, and it's really just a better idea to put maybe $1500 tops into it then a ridiculous $10-15k when that alone would buy you a new SS.
You can love your car, but it will only get you so far, when another car will get you much further and make you much happier. You could probably buy a 2008+ SS, not put a dime into it, and be happier then putting $15k into your LS.
You're car's going to have problems the more you mod it, ask anyone on here. Starting with a more performance oriented car is a much better idea.
I highly doubt anyone on this site who has modified their LS/LT and then went to a SS is going to tell you they regret their decision.

If you really want to keep this car and mod it, show us a pic of how it looks right now. Let's see what you're working with, bro.
Maybe other owners can tell you what route they'd take next.
If you insist.. I'd say cam it. I was considering doing the same when I had extra money but hadn't done anything else performance wise on it. Cam, 2.4 intake mani seems to be popular. you said you had an intake and exhaust, downpipe correct? Valve springs if you get an agressive cam and a tune for it. Other than that your looking for a lot of money for little gain imo.
