NOW THAT YOUR IN HERE...ITS TIME TO GET MAD HA HA HA
just woundering what is the point of buying a car that is supercharged....and then only talk about putting a turbo on it...or someone that buys a base model cause its cheap and then they wanna turbo it
idea buy a srt 4 if u wanna turbo
P.S 2008 WILL NOT BE TURBO RWD

I am not sure. If I thought it out and was going to do mainly track, I probably would have bought a completely stock with no options base coupe manual. Then bought a hahn turbo or some type of custom setup with extras. mainly because of the light weight reduction between the sc/sc and ls. from the reading 2.2L is the block to build on for the race. Since I dont have the money and need a daily driver, I went this route not fastest for track but quick enough for my taste and yet very sporty looking.

haha....1200ax twin screw swap FTW!!!
Isnt that what every honda owner...or pretty much every racer does?
youve got to realize this, alot of these people are still in HS, there mom and dad got them the car, cool.... but mom and dad arnt going to buy them a turbo, or anything else. so alot of the people are living a pipe dream.
Hell, I would love to do alot more to my car, I still want that Flux Capacitor, and the Lambo Doors!...and a quad charger settup...and a rocket jet that extends out of the trunk.
but ive got bills... :
Easy ....the stock M62 is inadequate if u intend to make over 300 wp . For a guy like me and like lots of other people , who doesnt need to wait for a Turbo kit to become available .....can source parts to fab a turbo kit and be about even money wise over paying to make a supercharger like a whipple work on our engine . Im not raggin on the blowers at all ....but I dont need keep a supercharger in my car "just because it came that way " and dont need the blower whine to make all warm and fuzzy inside when a VERY streetable 2.0 north of 375 wp could easily be had with a turbo .
Why would you buy a base 2.2 or 2.4 cobalt if your just gonna Turbo charge it ? Why not just buy a Neon ?!?!?! If I really wanted a Cobalt , why would I want a 4 door neon , just because it already has a Turbo . Once the PCM's in the 2.2 can be fully tuned with HP , the base cars are gonna be PERFECT cheap cars in which to build from . Almost all the current fastest Ecotec powered cars are based around the 2.2 ......not the 2.0
These Turbo vs. supercharger threads I always find humerous . Thats great you wanna stick by the supercharger till death , but not everyone feels the same . Right now anyways , its easier to make big power with a Turbo . All that being said , I will be staying supercharged with mine , so my opinion is not biased
Most of the fastest 03-04 Cobras have long lost their superchargers for a Turbo

Well for me I do not fit in a NEON. I dont like the styling. If I wanted TURBO I would buy a 2.2L as soon as there is PCM software from HPtuners. I think the 2.4L maybe the best option at this point. but I prefer supercharged for a daily driver. if you want 9 seconds then you go turbo and push 35 PSI. that is not going to happen for the majority of us. 21PSI 60LBS INTAKE EXHAUST is a good recipe and fairly cheap. If you want more then pistons and rods, head work, cams and timing. DONE. 350WHP easy. not bad for a street daily driver I think.
GO Cobalt, GO SUPERCHARGED.

there's an easy explanation... not everyone wants a supercharged car... there's more potential with a turbo on these cars...
as far as modding a base model, i know lots of people say it's stupid... but look at it this way... all cobalts are economy cars... they all have potential to be fast with some money... why buy a ss/sc and then put a few thousand into it? why not get an STI or an EVO, or something along those line? on the same note, why get an STI or an EVO and mod it? Why not just get a corvette> you can say "why mod any car", why not just get one that is better and faster in stock trim? but that's not what we do... we buy our sub 22k econo car and mod it... why? we like the cobalt...
lots of people don't like the srt4... personally, i love my base model... but i'm also realistic about what the car is, unlike many members here with all trim levels... and, I like working on cars... i mod my car because it's fun, and i enjoy getting my hands dirty on it...
so, to sum it up, why mod ANY cobalt based on your point of view? we all got out cars for whatever reason... i could have afforded more than a base model cobalt, but that's what i chose because it was economical, and had a little pep...

As far as the whole Honda thing...the point he's trying to make is that people are buying a car with 1 type of forced induction and wanting to take it off and put another type of forced induction on. That's fine and dandy but it kind of makes you wonder why they bought a stock supercharged car. People with Hondas don't have the option of either from factory so they put one on if thats their choice.
That's all he was trying to say.

I know where your coming from....but your math is way off bro
a 2.2 + turbo kit DOES equal the cost of an SS/sc
but an SS/SC with a few grand in it does not even come close to an STI of EVO
Like i said....i understand what your saying.....but the ss/sc with $2k in mods will cost you alot less than a new sti or evo.
by a LONG shot.

I don't know about that dude, there are a few of them for a couple thousand that come close to an STi in the 1/4. In every other aspect the STi blows it away, but the Cobalt can be made quick for cheap, if done right.
he was suggesting that instead of buying an ss/sc and putting a few K into it you could just buy an evo or sti.
you misunderstood me.
i should have said "does not even come close to the PRICE of an sti or evo"

I jus want the 08 Cobalt to come with a better s/c b/c I like the whine and I aint lookin for over 300whp. Even though the twin scroll turbo will have almost no lag, a s/c would have less, right? Plus no blow off valve for the turbo without making it slower. If they do come out with a turbo, I might buy an 07, but either way im gettin a car this summer. Il have a 10k down payment by then (7k right now) and my parents might BORROW me the rest.

i'm just saying that there is always a better car out there... telling people they should have gotten a better car instead of upgrading is absolutely rediculous... because in that case, why mod any car?? why not just get a better one and keep it stock? because that's stupid
