Keeping damaged bumper?
Keeping damaged bumper?
ok, here is the situation. Got into a accident about 2 weeks ago which left a 4x4 inch hole in my bumper.
...so the it will have to be replaced by the insurance company. I was thinking on starting a body kit from the damaged bumper ( im pretty handy with fiberglass ). You guys think they will let me keep the bumper? Oh yeah this car is also leased.
Thanks in advance.

I'm sure the body shop will toss it unless they patch the one on the car?

I am pretty sure they will replace it. Pretty nasty. I would hope so anyway....
Thanks for the quick reply
Most bodyshops will give you the old cover if you ask. Don't be surprised is it is stuffed into your back seat though. For some reason us bodymen hate giving the customer there old parts(I don't know why, it's one of those unwritten rules I guess). It is possible the bodyshop won't give you the cover as they get money from the rebuilders for good cores.
Iif you keep the old cover, DO NOT use fiberglass to repair or modify it. There are plastic repair materials made for this. You will use the same techniques as fiberglass, just different materials.
good Luck,
Dennis
