Key Cost..?
I believe there is away to do it your self because you need that chip inside the key programed. Google it. Some dealers will do it cheap others iv heard like $50 to get it done. Try and do it your self if it dose not work hell you only spent $2 to get the key made.
they are over $50...i know because i went to get a replacement after i lost one at prom. The dealerships told me it's so much because all of the keys are the same shape but have a different digital chip inside them to recognize one car from another. So yes, the only place you can get them is from the dealership because they are the only one's who can put the chip code in the key
i worked at a hardware store and they had a copy for all new gm vehicles and it work for my ss\sc...i would never stick it in the ignition i just keep it in my wallet to get in the car...btw i had to grind away the plastic stuff to make it flat..
all programing is, is put your key in and turn it to run but dont start the car then take that key out and put the new one in and start the car, the keys are like 35 and they charge half a hour to do that program
i had one made when i bought my car. 35 bucks at the dealer. The local ace charges the same price. Programming it is as EASY as mentioned above. I still havent gotten around to getting a new FOB. mainly because you will get reamed at the dealer getting that programmed.
if you still have a key it is cheap, and all you have to do is start your car with your regular key, turn it off, turn it back on with the new key and its ready to roll. if you dont have any keys, you have to have the dealer hook it up to the tech II or something. just went through this myself.

I'm just gonna do that.. Odd question, but does it have to be a Chevy logo one? Or will any of them with the plus and circle work? It's just a spare key, and I want it to be different from my normal one.. If it does, no big deal.. Any idea? lol. Because I know that Caddy, GMC, Buick, etc. all have a version of that key.. Just different logos..

Hmm.. Regardless, just buy the key, do the key activation thing, and voila, it works? Does it then work for the door and such too? No cutting or anything necessary?
